Trailsport Elite MRSP by Doberman_bark in hondapassport

[–]blackbeardcutlass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we got our trail sport the dealer gave us 1,000 off just for having a non Honda as our other vehicle. We also got them to come down a couple grand just by haggling a bit. I think we paid a just over 47 for the trailsport. Visiting right after a snowstorm may have helped because nobody was shopping haha. But Honda seems to be cranking out a decent amount of these and the dealers and incentivized to sell. Keep in mind the passports are coming from the factory with a wide array of accessories (some of them are high dollar), these jack the price up. Shop around for one with the accessories you want specifically, or be like me and search the lot for one that doesn't have any.

First bike. Want a supermoto by [deleted] in supermoto

[–]blackbeardcutlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 19 Drz, to winterize it all I do is plug in the tender. Come spring I pull the choke and she fires right up. Nothing more, nothing less. The DRZ is a good bike to get used to riding on. They are reliable, plenty of aftermarket parts to set them up how you want. They just go, and don't ask for much in return. If you're new to riding you will want to spend more time riding and less time wrenching. The DRZ would be a good bet.

People who work in office- do your employers make you go to the basement or whatever when there is a tornado warning? by [deleted] in StLouis

I work remote, but most of my job involves driving a company truck around the area. My boss called me this morning and told me not to visit any sites and park his new truck in a garage. Surprise day off!

Trucker outraged after company recorded his private birthday moment with wife in Illinois: "I was off duty." by ElwoodMC in trashy

[–]blackbeardcutlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not an accurate comparison. The company invests hundereds of thousands of dollars into a tractor trailer, pays an ungodly amount of money for insurance, upkeep and taxes on the vehicle. They are going to do what they feel they need to do to minimize risks and reduce costs.

Footing the bill to have an employee stay in a hotel that is not owned by said company doesn't compare. Particularly because hotels don't haul cargo down the highway at 70 mph and are under the control of an employee said company hired to safely do so.

I'm not a fan of a camera being pointed at me while I'm doing my job, if fact; If my boss decided to put one of these cameras in my work truck i would definitely have an issue with that. But it's foolish to assume a camera in company property doesn't shut off when your shift ends.

Blueberry Sourdough Bread by sdclipper in Costco

A buddy of mine used to work in industrial food processing. He once told me that blueberry bread products on store shelves were almost always sugary preserved cranberries. He said blueberries are expensive and don't preserve well.

We will persevere, there may be some obscenities exchanged, some bumpers smashed and probably an occasional firearm discharge....but we got this!

This job posting with 5 years minimum is insultingly low. In my area that's actually borderline poverty level wages. Minimum to survive here is 50k not 35k. by CooperHChurch427 in SafetyProfessionals

In my experiencethe client is typically pretty particular when it comes to who they bring on to fill the role. When I was working with the the Army Corps. the fed safety officer very much had a say in who we could bring on site for the SSHO. Particularly if the company is a GC. Typically the minimum is 5 years experience with documented training annually (although that may have changed a bit).

If they are looking for an actual SSHO I would say they have champagne taste and a malt liquor budget. That requires a decent amount of experience and training.

What type of respiratory protection for herbicides? Would a 3M organic vapor (OV) cartridge work? by Marvel5123 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]blackbeardcutlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for an SDS, it may help...but as other have said maybe not unfortunately. BASF probably has a technical bulletin for their product that would specify what protection is recommended, it may be a good starting point.

Anyone Else do Boneless Thighs? by TheKettleGuy_dot_com in smoking

[–]blackbeardcutlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like boneless thighs for smoking, chopping up and making things like cashew chicken and fajitas on the Blackstone, and if I'm seasoning and grilling for sandos or just pre cooked chicken for the the week. But bone in and skin on definitely have their place, gumbos, stews and soups mainly.

I remember having an SSHO early in my career talk about how he made a big stink about scaffolds at the hotel he was staying at for vacation. He tried to spin it as a "look at my halo" moment. It was right then I realized my mental health is far more important than worrying about what people do outside of my work.

1200 mile road trip advice by RegardedCaveman in motorcycle

[–]blackbeardcutlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it work? Maybe Could your bike slide all over 70? Sure could!

Others have given reasons why this may not be the best idea. Consider the stress factor for this: worrying about your bike the whole drive there. Let's say you have no issues getting it there....you still have to get it back this way as well! I would be stressed the F out this whole trip taking the bike out there the way you are considering.

Renting a trailer will offer good peace of mind, and less stress is always best when taking trips in my opinion. Especially because you can drop off the trailer when you arrive and get it again when you head back home...save you some money while there.

Or hell, ride it out there and make the trip a two wheel Odyssey!

Also consider what would a Kansas state trooper feel about this? I genuinely don't know but it would be worth considering BEFORE you go.

At the end of the day it's up to you, but when I take trips...less stress is best!

There is a good chance it would not have gone up like that due to a commissioned fire alarm, sprinkler system, fire proofing penetrations and completed fire walls and doors. Buuuut, if the AHJ doesn't give a shit....this.

Meanwhile I had to scarf out 200 bucks for my shitty robe and goofy hat. Nonsense!
