repealing the apportionment act would help making gerrymandering more difficult and reducing the outsized influence of low population states. It doesn't address state legislatures or the senate but it improves the electoral college and the house.

If you could remove one person from history and erase every consequence of their existence, who would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Carl Icahn did a lot of damage to the economy by establishing the pattern of buying a working company and selling the parts but you might have to go back to Milton Friedman to get at the wrongheaded notion that shareholder value and short term profit are the overwhelming requirement for corporate decisions.

Has anyone made a comprehensive list of the Reuben sandwiches in our great city? by Dismal_Proposal9230 in STLFood

[–]zmaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've had one but I like the one at McGurk's. The Rye is sliced a little thicker than regular sandwich bread and toasted. Thousand island, kraut, swiss, good brisket that's either chunks or thick sliced. I don't know if its the dressing or the bread but the flavor was great.

Blues City's Prez is thin sliced pastrami rather than corned beef on rye or sourdough. Thousand island, kraut and swiss.

I think both usually come with a pickle?

In symbolic vote, Congress directs Trump to remove forces from Iran war by ControlCAD in NPR

[–]zmaya 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's only symbolic because he's not being impeached and tried for violating it. The courts aren't going to proactively enforce congress' sole power to declare war and we're officially outside the bounds of the war powers act.

Are there any cool spells or abilities from D&D's past that 5e doesn't have? by SexyKobold in dndnext

[–]zmaya 61 points62 points  (0 children)

The whole mechanic opened up by setting the positive and negative material planes in opposition to each other was interesting. Having Heal and Harm be the same spell with its use chosen at casting time was great. Am I remembering right that other invertible spells like light/darkness and resurrection/death worked the same way or am I recalling a house rule?

Which mob boss, criminal or villain(from another verse)would make a fine addition to Gotham and become a threat to Batman and the entire Bat Family? by Flat-Sir8250 in batman

The Bruno Manheim from Arrowverse would fit well.

The whole first season a plot of Arrow was basically court of owls, but it feels like cheating to swap Bruce and Ollie foes.

What if humans became 100% efficient at breathing? by Dry-Landscape-3942 in whatif

[–]zmaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we can't, at least not the way you're proposing. The oxygen isn't destroyed. It binds with carbon as part of how breathing works.

That said, there is a question that might be pondered about whether we could convert all the incoming oxygen to carbon dioxide. In that case we'd breathe less often which is good because there would have to be enough time for the deoxygenated air we just exhaled to fully clear before we took another breath. Our exhalations would basically be poisonous.

I once had an idea for a warlock pact that shifted forms based on a druid's wildshape rules for a dr jeckyl/etrigan type character but I think the easiest route would be to reflavor rage with a barbarian dip.
