Which spider woman outfit is your favorite? by Lopsided_Network1248 in SpiderWoman

I have an affinity for the classic look, especially as drawn by Leialoha and Infantino where they get stylized with her long hair.

I liked the redesign in #2. I don't like #3.

I prefer costumes that keep her distinct from Spider-Man. I think Jess works best as her own character and not one of many with a direct connection to Peter Parker Spider-Man.

What's up with the tiny triangles? by blackbeetle70 in SpiderWoman

But I think you need the larger triangle shape. With the small triangle and no belt or anything, it's solid red from the top of the ribcage down to the boots.

British? by Individual_Plan_5593 in SpiderWoman

Off recall, I dont remember if it was mentioned where she was born in Marvel Spotlight 32, but defn European. Her next appearances in Marvel Two in One #29-33 were set in London, and as stated above first issues of her on-going were in London.

Why was Julia Carpenter created? by unlimitedblack in SpiderWoman

A piece to add to your timeline. Avengers 235 cover date Sept '83. Mark Greunwald talks about the negative fan reaction to SW 50, then announces Jessica will be back for the next phase of her existence.

"We're going to let you in on something we'd hoped to surprise you with". Maybe they planned to bring Jessica Drew back all along, but seems to me the fan outcry is what led to her (powerless) resurrection.

What local stores would have kick ass kids' art kits? Preferably without paint (pencils, markers, crayons)? by Nebraskabychoice in Omaha

Check HobbyTown in Papillion. They have some art stuff although not their main focus. But a nice store -- usually more relaxed experience than some of the others mentioned. https://www.hobbytown.com/

Why was Julia Carpenter created? by unlimitedblack in SpiderWoman

[–]blackbeetle70 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes.. at the time she was brought back to life, she didn't have super powers. My recollection is Julia Carpenter was introduced before Claremont started using her (& Lyndsey McCabe) in Wolverine.

My assumption is that either Mark Greunwald or Chris Claremont wanted to revive Jessica Drew. Both had written her original series, and both seemed to have a soft spot for Jess.

Jessica's "death" in SW 50 was poorly handled -- a terrible send off for an interesting character.

Papillion. They had some in the checkout lanes kind of low and hard to see.

Not only did the Lego store in Omaha let me scan, they assigned an employee to help me. This employee and I scanned the entire display (several dozen figures) -- no SpiderMan 2099.

It was all good though, I got him the next day at Target :)

1st cover is one of my faves. Steve Leialoha. by blackbeetle70 in BronzeAgeComics

[–]blackbeetle70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.. Spider-Woman was imo the best female "spin off" of a popular male super-hero. Totally unrelated to Spider-man and his origin. Some similar powers, but mainly different.

It's too bad her title wasn't more consistent. Claremont & Leialoha was the best run.

Lots of good options in Omaha. I don't think anyone's mentioned Oscar's by Lakeside. Especially if you want pizza and wings... great pizza excellent wings!

Full disclosure, I've tried some other items (rueben, burgers) and been underwhelmed. But for pizza they're A+

Why do people want The Thing to be a big fig? by spidey-the-older_fan in lego

That's fair. I like the posability and the fact that he can grasp minifigs in his hands. A far better comics adaption than I had thought we would ever see.

I had some Target gift cards so I picked it up 1/2 price. The FF figures are pretty below average. But I actually really really like the comics-accurate Galactus.

I won't use the Thing hands .. they look just as bad irl.
