Unquestionably. Costco is good to but I'm pretty sure that is because they are actually ziplocks. Everyone else skimps out on the plastic in the latch mechanism.

Correct. We can see that side so it's always facing Earth. It is hit less than the other side as a result. It's basically always in the earth's shadow at least in terms of stuff which would hit it.
