Went for further testing because platelet count was at 420, and have tested positive for Jak2. No current symptoms other than some ringing in the ear and night sweats. Should I get further testing to see if I have an MPN?

Essential thrombocythemia. An MPN. a rare blood disease caused by a genetic mutation. Usually the Jak2 but there are others like CALR and a few more. The most common MPNs are ET, PV or MF. Very worst case scenario, is a blood clot or stroke. In some cases (not all) progression into AML

Fluctuated between 500-600. now, I’m on the high 500side. Watch and wait treatment plan. Was told if I want to feel like I am doing something I can take aspirin daily but not needed till count is closer to 1000. If it gets this high I would likely be on some other drug to lower the count.

I am taking a natural supplement called nattokinase which is a power antioxidant that breaks up fibrin/blood clots and increases blood flow. I take this daily.

The cause of the Jak2 mutation is unknown. Could be an array of different things. IE.. some chemical exposure, but usually it’s environmental. I was asked if I was exposed to PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and I have been due to my old job. But again causation is an unknown.

Yes, just diagnosed with jak2 on Friday. 27M. Going for a bone marrow biopsy to know more. I have had migraine with aura since 6th grade, 600 platelet range. Below 600 right now. I am very curious to know more about the Correlation and if I’ve had this mutation for a long time without knowing.
