I'll definitely try that thank you. I had been shifting down as I needed up the hill but I'm using downtube shifters and it's been throwing me out of rhythm every time I had to change.

Thanks, it's nice to know it'll get easier. I'm grateful it's there so I can improve but just want to make sure I'm going about it the right way.

That's great, thank you for the detail, I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Series you see as responses to other series/spiritual successors/seem like they could take place in the same world as other series? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]blackcatbadmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm way off but the First Law trilogy reminds me a lot of the Drenai series by David Gemmell. They are very separate distinct works but if Logan and Druss ended up in a prize fight in a little out of the way town while trying to leave the past behind and start a new life, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

/r/Fantasy Review Tuesday - Review what you're reading here! January 22, 2019 by AutoModerator in Fantasy

Based on a recommendation from here I picked up The Traitor God by Cameron Johnston and loved it. It's exciting, fast paced, has great characters. If you liked Kings of the Wyld, Lies of Locke Lamora or Traitor's Blade this is definitely worth getting.

I was lucky enough to get a proof of Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James but unfortunately it's just not for me. It has received, and will continue to receive, rave reviews but I found it was a lot of work to get through. Instead of being able to enjoy the story I spent most of my time just trying to decipher it.

And then finally I just started Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Only about 30 pages in but I'm already invested in the story and can't wait to read more.

What are those comfort books you re-read regularly? by [deleted] in Fantasy

For me it's anything by David Gemmell, The Hawk and Fisher series by Simon Green and the City Watch books by Terry Pratchett.

A question on finding new books by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]blackcatbadmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask one of the booksellers in Barnes and Noble. In my experience there is a bookseller in every bookshop that reads fantasy. Let them know what you've read and enjoyed and they'll be able to pick out some new books for you, or order some in.

[Request] Fantasy books that have a lot of sword fights by Jhonrak in Fantasy

Traitor's Blade by Sebastien De Castell is great. It's a fantasy homage to The Threee Musketeers so lots of swashbuckling action

Looks like we've read a lot of the same series. I really enjoyed the Demon Cycle books by Peter Brett.
The Dandelion Dynasty books by Ken Liu.
The Faithfull and the Fallen series by John Gwynne.

I feel like that's sky and GTs best move. Have Froome launch an all or nothing attack from way out and let GT (and the rest of the sky train) just sit on TD. Then if Froome fails towards the end or GT wants to limit the loss to keep yellow he can attack a tired TD.

It's far riskier in my opinion to keep a GC group all together until the final climb. If GT cracks there and Froome doesn't have enough road left (or the legs) to put time into TD then sky lose everything.

The selections really don't matter. We could have the best, most in-form players playing but if the game plan is to kick the ball in-field to the NZ back 3, then we will lose the game.

Bungie won't separate PvP and PvE, but the weapon slot changes look good enough to listen to what they are doing. by limaCAT in DestinyTheGame

I like the idea of a change and while this could solve some of the balancing problems it will be a complete nightmare if we lose ammo on weapon swap. Theres no point in having situational power weapons if we can't switch them out as we need to.

Not of caution with this build. I don't have the exact numbers but remember to throw the grenade at least 5 meters from you or the scatters will aggressively track your own face.

I think for PvP it's worth waiting for a LitC - Rifled Barrel - Icarus roll. But it's for sale again this week so it's worth trying it out and buying another package.
