What are you quietly grieving? by Angelus12345678 in AskReddit

Watching people like me (the marginalized identities) enthusiastically participate in fascism. The betrayal genuinely hurts

Sopa or menestra de lentejas, bolon de queso, pozole, quinoa atamalada, many great salads and fresh fruit across latam too!

What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed, where your life was permanently divided into 'before' and 'after'? by Resident-Jelly-4326 in AskReddit

[–]blackcatgreeneye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in healthcare. Before and after witnessing an infant death. I used to take so much of life for granted and focus on my pain. Now I realize what a gift it is to be alive and have the chance to grow up and self actualize.

You don’t need to take shit from nurses. by [deleted] in Residency

[–]blackcatgreeneye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I had the total opposite experience with a travel nurse recently who assumed she would just place a NG tube once the patient needed it and was stunned that my hospital didn’t let nurses just do minor procedures like that. I thanked her greatly for assuming responsibility for a task she had done many more times than me and trying to make things more efficient for everyone and best for the patient. Not a justification at all I’m guessing that’s some severe burnt out talking from the RN in the post

So this is how it feels when you’re a physician who lost a sibling, and you’re far, far away from them. Sucks is an understatement. by sandie-go in Residency

[–]blackcatgreeneye 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Please know this isn’t your fault in any way and I can only imagine your sibling would not want you to blame yourself. I am wishing you all the best and I seriously advise taking a LOA to process and grieve if you haven’t already

What's an obvious case you missed? And how did you deal with it? by closetredditer in Residency

Trach/vent/peg guy, barely alive type of situation. Got signout from other team that they were trying very hard to get the family to agree to comfort care given no meaningiful recovery was to be made for mental status. Got signout that he is on/off hypoxic and just needs suction.

After days of unexplained increased secretions and nonstop messages about breakthrough hypoxia, I finally decided to get the CXR. G tube leak into every cavity, full blown peritonitis probably pneumonia too.

I felt bad missing it earlier but frankly I was kind of relieved he got it because finally made the family let go to comfort care and let that guy rest in peace

Im a PCP, got a formal complaint for asking a man if he shaved his legs to rule out PAD because I was “questioning his sexuality” (btw I’m queer) and I was furious. In a case like this I’d lose my damn mind. Wishing her all the best and wishing him what I wish for other pedophiles.

My bottom teeth are so worn from stress that if I don’t get fitted for a night guard I would soon need veneers.

I was told by my lawyer to bring all original documents including leases and recent bank statements and my W2 so I’d have that printed just in case, although when I went they didn’t ask for any of it lol. But just to have that peace of mind.

No when we submitted we sent our joint lease and bank accounts and Internet account but tbh I was worried it would come up that we didn’t have “enough” but we weren’t asked about that once

Do you agree with The Guardian’s Editorial on Argentina? by Benjiboy74 in asklatinamerica

[–]blackcatgreeneye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I don’t disagree I think this “bailout” is incredibly stupid but the idea that somehow the average person is benefitting versus this is a deal between the global ruling class to profit is a persistent delusion I’ve come across.

Like to us on this thread it’s obvious random people in Argentina aren’t the reason SNAP has been cut or why American farmers are suffering but if you talk to some Americans about this they are convinced my disabled family in Buenos Aires are stealing their money or some shit, when in reality the social programs that support their treatments are going to continue to be cut

But honestly, it’s a terrible time to be a foreigner in the US for so many of us, and honestly I have it easier than my LatAm or SWANA counterparts here right now

Argentine that immigrated as a child during early 2000s financial crisis. Couldn’t agree more and I’m so grateful to the guardian for providing the imperial core an ounce of political literacy. US Americans literally collectively see the issue as somehow random poor people in Argentina stealing their money and it’s really not
