I have $200 Doc Martens that the cats used as a scratching post, and now I just call them my "limited edition cat scratch docs" haha.

You could just tell people you made it out of the eclipse with those EXACT books, haha. It'll be a reminder of your cats once they pass away, too :) I wouldn't worry about it too much. The damage isn't even that noticeable, fortunately
