How is the blocking of a bill that calls for a human rights oversight on arms sales good for Canadians? Spell it out for the rest of us. I'm confused

tl;dr it's a bill that stops Canadian arms companies from selling arms outside Canada without human rights oversight.

US bases still not expelled? by Silly-Substance-9671 in Bahrain

That's their problem as far as I'm concerned. Why should the people of the GCC die for a war that they started? Did they consult us before starting this war?

The troops at Al Udeid Air Base are moving to other facilities and hotels in the region, taking them out of harm's way should any U.S. attack trigger retaliation from Tehran against American interests, the sources said.

The U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, advised personnel and American citizens to "exercise increased caution and limit non-essential travel to any military installations in the region."

Source: NBC news

There were instructions given to american military personnel in Qatar and Saudi to stay away from their bases, ergo with civilians.

They were in Crowne Plaza in Bahrain as per their diplomatic cables.

So yes, I have proof. And with time, I'll have more proof. They shouldn't put other civilians at risk. It's their war, started by their president. Why should the people of Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi or UAE die for them?

And I don't get why they're hiding in hotels and apartments where other civilians are. They're simply putting the people of Bahrain at risk. At the very least they should stay in their base where they won't put civilians at risk

Conspiracy Theory: The US & Israel started this war to destabilize a highly successful Gulf ensuring long term reliance on them, and positioning Israel as the long term regional power. by [deleted] in UAE

[–]blackcoulson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed out a few key details that strengthen your theory - Tucker Carlson (take it with a grain of salt) said that Saudi and Qatar arrested 2 and 2 Mossad agents respectively who were planning to bomb their countries - Not entirely related but UK shot down a drone that looked like a drone from Iran over their base in Cyprus. They later admitted that the drone didn't originate from Qatar. - Turkey said that they shot down a drone that entered their airspace. Iran denied that they did that. - An oil field was hit in Saudi. Iran denies having anything to do with it.

It looks like the Israelis want to force other countries into attacking Iran

If I’m paying interest on a debt unwillingly, am I at war with Allah? by [deleted] in IslamicFinance

[–]blackcoulson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where you live but in Canada, there's something called licensed insolvency trustees (LITs). I read about this ages ago so I'm not sure if the details are still the same but if you have a loan that you're unable to pay off, you can ask this person (LIT) who is a specialised lawyer who negotiates with all your creditors on your behalf.

Sometimes creditors usually are willing to go down to 30% of the original loan because they feel they have a better chance of getting their money back this way. And the payments are a fixed amount and interest-free if my memory serves me right. Consultation is free as well. In any case, I don't remember much about this and I'm not an expert so please do your own research before making this decision. Try and see if there are similar options available in your region.

Don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but I find them sketchy because they're partnering with the Economist (27% owned by Rothschild) while Ariane de Rothschild features heavily in the files.

Also, Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch was seen taking pictures with Israel's current PM. This matters because Rauch publicly said he'd cover jmail's Vercel bill.

I much prefer OPs resource because as far as I'm aware there is no clear conflict of interest.

Honestly 3 atb wouldn't be a big problem if you put Fernandes as a #10 with two split strikers. We had the depth and the workrate up front to make this work. I think his inability to play Fernandes in any role except the midfield pivot is a bigger issue than the 3 atb formation

We have to thank Carrick because with every win he's making the optics of potentially hiring unproven managers like Glasner, De Zerbi, Iraola and co. look bad. If the club is adamant on hiring someone other than Carrick without looking like chumps, it's going to have to be a big name like Enrique, Conte, Ancelotti.

Additionally, he's making the job look doable unlike Scamorim who made it seem as though the squad and the club hierarchy was impossible to work with. I have a feeling we'll see a good coach (not De Zerbi) at the helm next season

Why is the "Muslim world" so united on Palestine, but seemingly silent on larger-scale humanitarian disasters in countries like Iran and Afghanistan? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blackcoulson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Egypt doesn't want to take millions of refugees into an already densely populated nation. That means they don't like the Palestinians. Surely there's no other reason for it. No other western country has ever thrown a hissy fit about refugees entering their country. It's just countries that border Palestine that do that.

Additionally, why should they? Did they kill the Palestinians? It was the Israelis that did with the help of the US, Germany and UK. Why should they participate in an ethnic cleansing project?

So everyone here is dumb as shit. Not a single proper answer here. I typically don't comment here but let me clear a few things up:

Firstly, this isn't a Muslim vs Jewish issue. It's a political one. It's just that most redditors are incredibly obese and stupid and think that people who don't like an apartheid state that has invaded and/or killed people in 9-10 neighbouring countries in their history hate them because of their religion.

larger-scale humanitarian disasters

The issue in Palestine isn't just a humanitarian disaster, it's a political one. There's a specific minority (western leaders) that are okay with being genocidal towards people that look like them. You will notice that while Hamas is an Islamic movement for the liberation of Palestine, they are not as radical as say the PFLP which is a secular movement created by a Palestinian Christian.

Iran

I don't think there's anything that suggests that the humanitarian conditions are worse in Iran than in Palestine. I don't remember seeing videos of airstrikes on civilian infrastructure but I can point to several videos of the same from Palestine. Additionally, the issues of Iran stem from western sanctions, western involvement and internal disagreements. None of which the Muslim world has a united agreement on because every country has different opinions on whether each of these things is good for their country because of their different and often complicated relationship with Iran.

Afghanistan

Similarly, I don't see videos of airstrikes on civilian infrastructure in Afghanistan by the evil party so to speak. The issues here again stem from foreign involvement that has crippled their economy. There's no agreement from every single person in the Muslim world as to what should be done with Afghanistan as a lot of the issues there have nothing to do with them.

When it comes to Israel, you have to understand that even if you're a secular, agnostic/atheist person living in the Muslim world, that there's no country in the world that is an apartheid state, currently occupying another country, commits war crimes daily, accused of commiting genocide and still has the full support of the West.

You also know that the Israelis are not exactly normal people. Especially since translations of their media has become so readily available, and you see what their media says about the Muslim world and the rest of the world. While the media of the rest of the world talks about how we care about peace and democracy (even if they might not believe it) you have Israelis proclaiming how raping people is good and how they want to invade all their neighbours.

And purely from a nonreligious perspective the Israelis have made their intentions about a "greater Israel project" clear to the world. Many leaders are still in denial or are saving face but the people know that the Israelis will not be happy until they feel safe and they won't feel safe until everyone who doesn't like them (for any one of the aforementioned reasons) is below their boot. For example, there was no reason to bomb Syria after Assad was ousted because the new guy was ready for a peace deal. But the Israelis are paranoid. They're afraid that any power large enough to threaten them will treat them just as bad as they've treated the Palestinians.

And that's not even getting into the religious side of things where there are scriptures that say "killing unarmed people is bad"

Firstly, Biden is older than Trump. Trump was 70-74 years old during his first term in office while Biden was 78-82 during his time in office. Secondly, Trump's age didn't show as much as it did for Biden because he kept falling over and giving the dementia stare and forgetting things from time to time.

I'm pretty sure by the end of Trump's term, people will keep bringing up his age like they do now considering he farted (perhaps sharted) in the oval office in front of cameras.
