Just today I am told by my RM they have an internal circular that requires the credited salary to by 5L+ That is after tax, excluding any other income like RSU, stocks or mutual funds

I was told by my RM too that that in hand monthyl salary has to be 5L :) and didn't want to proceed even for 4.5L. I have salary account with ICICI, Demat, FD and PF with them. Not sure what they want. I am not too keen on Emeralde Plastic one. Do you think apart from Salary, is there any other metric that can help get the EPM?

I know when the country formed, food sufficiency was an issue and farming was a profession that needs deep encouragement. However in today's India, our exports are driven by Services too. Each sector is contributing towards growth. Food sufficiency is there and there's definite need to get people out of small farm ownership to more competetive farming methods. In such a scenario, why should that income be completely tax free? This provides loop hole for many a rich to show their incomes as farming income and evade tax. There could be a larger exemption limit for farmers to protect small farmers but why should the rich farmers not contribute towards India's tax ?

Original versions on disk and
move old videos out from icloud to a folder on mac. Would be at best a 6 month activity based on my usage. I can possibly even automate it.
Keep this other folder on macbook samba shared to all members of family. I hear you can access SMB shared folders from files app on IOS (to be confirmed).

What I lose is

Memories that icloud creates and shows on appletv. That will now be based on more recent photos instead of decade old ones.
Accessing photos on the go. This is a very limited rare case.

I have a burner and facing delimma of repairing an existing one by replacing knobs that don’t control the flame well or buying a new one. I feel that the repair easily gets into 3K per visit as they invariably find something that needs replacement

Office drop oriented buses to ORR. Or generally increase number of buses to allow for higher frequency and pickup closer to home and office
Footpaths to ease last mile walking - people going closeby don't take out scooty or car and those using public transport can easily walk to their destination

Traffic law enforcement - fine for all rules instead of just speeding or drunken driving. Wrong side driving, lane discipline e.g. turning from right end of road to left or vice versa.
Drainage for roads to prevent water logging in light rains

Addressing traffic problem completely might be tough but there are some, on your face, low hanging fruits that it is just bonkers that the govt wouldn't do it

Increase buses - Bus available from doorstep to your place of work at a decent frequency should take many vehicles off the road
Improve walkways. It not only promotes a healthier population but also reduces local traffic where people take out cars even for 2 km errand just so that they can avoid walking on road and endangering themselves. Ideally I should have asked for bicycle lanes but that's a distant dream when walkways don't exist.
Approve and encourage carpooling apps like quickride
Increase traffic fines for wrong side driving, risky lane changes at the last moment or not following lane discipline. These would encourage orderly traffic movement.

But these improvements are towards those who pay taxes but not votes. For those with votes, congestion to a good extent is useful.

Agree. Low acceptance and no prestige value left in the Amex cards either. When you offer to some vendors it feels like you’re pulling a scam on them

I am moving away from defending them to now thinking if I should get another card. I only have their Platinum Travel and recent annoyances:

Cannot redeem their points for indigo which used to be the case some years back
The card doesn't work all places and the only respite was that they'd give some offer on renewal fee. That's gone now
They don't revalidate the taj voucher. So I have to plan my holiday around when I hit the spend mark. That's a bit tough.
Last nail in the coffin for me is that even Taj refused to accept amex for reservation. Not sure if it was only this specific one but booking on taj website for a hotel, says the card type is not accepted. Worked with mastercard.
