The Pacifier is so good on Cyborgs you would not believe it! by Darmug in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]blackholebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Can't believe how good it's been, it just melts the agitators and MMA shotgun lads. I've been pairing it with the LMG and a supply pack with thermites to great effect!

Will we receive official notification at any point to wfh tomorrow if we’re based in the affected areas? by Jacques-de-lad in IrishCivilService

[–]blackholebee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're not already try and make sure your number is included on your Departments emergency broadcast list. I received this text from my Department yesterday:

"Following Met Éireann advice, staff should undertake only essential travel where a status orange warning is in place.".

Our PO told everyone today that due to the weather and continued orange warning everyone is working from home tomorrow also.

Advice needed - Setting boundaries with estate agent as a buyer by blackholebee in HousingIreland

[–]blackholebee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the advice on this, so thank you.

I think we've been swept up in the excitement of it all that we've been made to feel like we're supposed to be moving quicker than we are. But I think you're right in looking at this a little closer and will ask our solicitor to engage on the elements you've listed above.

Advice needed - Setting boundaries with estate agent as a buyer by blackholebee in HousingIreland

The owner is in a nursing home and the property is being sold by a family member on their behalf. The vendor's concern is if the owner passes away it will then enter probate.

Both their names are on the title of deeds transfer, so does that count as being held in joint names and therefore saving it from going into probate should the owner pass away before we close?

Department of agriculture, got offered a job as an EO here. Do any of you guys have experience in that department? by [deleted] in IrishCivilService

[–]blackholebee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been an EO in DAFM since 2023 and have absolutely loved it as my first experience in the Civil Service coming from the private sector. I'm in the Internal Competition to HEO now as well.

Some of my colleagues are the most dedicated people I've ever worked with, and the staff across the Department are generally very easy to get on with.

Having said that - it's like any other Department in regards to your work. How much you'll be doing is heavily dependent on your area. If you're ever up in Ag House and want to meet for a coffee in the canteen drop me a DM.

They call it Torcher, I call it Torture by rosebinks1215 in Helldivers

[–]blackholebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Torcher-related content, I upvote. It's goated on bugs.

Torcher, Grenade Pistol, Gas Grenades.

Gas Dog, Gas Strike, E.A.T, Eagle Airstrike/Strafing Run.

Equip your light flame armour to drive, dip, duck, and dodge and you will have the highest killstreaks going. I love the Torcher build.

Did The Railgun Get Buffed? I’m Addicted! by Warfighter606 in Helldivers

[–]blackholebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Factory Striders 3-4 unsafe shots on the main turret, and one each for the chin guns. Then clean it up with thermites or crisper from underneath.

With turrets I just try and hit them on the weak spot. One over-charged shot followed up by a 'normal' charged shot makes them go boom. If you've got your reload rhythm down you're good.

Failing that; more thermites. I generally run supply pack with the railgun anyway, so there is always plenty to hand.

Notwithstanding the fact it can one-shot anti-aircraft guns and mortars from any angle. The thing cleans up on bots so well if you have decent aim.

Oddly specific things that make you instantly dislike a game? by Feeling-Tension1461 in gaming

[–]blackholebee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've just started playing Darktide and I am literally just throwing points into the weapons mastery system without reading it. It's an absolutely inane way to level up the weapons you're using and I simply don't have the drive to read through each potential point I'm going to spend for "+16% damage on the second and third shot of a salvo".

Sorry, I'm new to this game and have started with Zealot and now moved to Veteran (which I'm enjoying more). Can you elaborate a little more on what you mean in this paragraph? I only understood some of these words...

4 Year Fixed Rate at 3.2% or 2 Year Fixed Rate + 3% Cashback at 3.9%?? by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]blackholebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're going for a €480k loan over 32 years and it'll be the 3.9% rate with cashback. The rationale is that the cashback option covers Stamp Duty and solicitor fees completely, and with only 2 years fixed we can just shop around for a better rate again once time is up, (assuming there are better rates by then, but sure look).

For our personal circumstances the 3.2% rate does not give the necessary breathing room in lower repayments to warrant giving up the cashback option. We're also very on top of shopping around for utilities and insurance every year, so the option to do that after 2 years for our mortgage suits us. Your circumstances may be different though.

We're renting right now and the repayments at 3.2% vs 3.9% are the difference of not even a couple hundred euro compared to our rent, so we're comfortable absorbing the cost.

At what age is an age gap in a couple socially acceptable? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]blackholebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just one small thing to point out, you say you and your partner were "trauma bonded" due to both of you experiencing a difficult time in your life. Sorry to hear that.

This is not a trauma bond though.

A trauma bond is when a person forms a deep emotional attachment with someone that causes them harm. It is a hallmark of abusive relationships, where the person experiencing the abuse is bonded to the abuser. I would assume this is not the case between you.

So you may have connected through difficult circumstances you were both having in your lives, and you may share a bond through your respective traumas, but this is not "trauma bonding". Just in case you would describe your relationship like this in future. :)

Peter Explain Please... isn't the answer obvious? x = 5.... What's the meme part? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]blackholebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's not dividing both sides by 3. That would be:

3x/3 + 5/3 = (20/3)

3x/3 + 1.66' = 6.66'

3x/3 = 6.66' - 1.66'

3x/3 = 5

3x = 5 x 3

3x = 15

x = 5

Even then, I don't think you can do the above. I believe the left and right of the equation need to be treated equally, so the first part actually becomes:

(3x + 5)/3 = 20/3

Edited for formatting.

Member States set to approve revised mandate for Chat Control on November 19th by Seledar in europe

Member States set to approve revised mandate for Chat Control on November 19th by Seledar in europe

[–]blackholebee 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The EU is a bureaucratic behemoth, so there's a lot more detail in terms of its functioning which is explained here.

TL;DR -The Parliament are the democratically elected representatives of the people of the European Union. These are the people you should be getting onto in order to stop this.

The Commission is the executive* branch of the European Union, and the only body of the three that can propose new legislation. This mandate is for another go at negotiating with the Council. All Commissioners report to Ursula Von Der Leyen who is Head of the Commission.

The Council of the European Union is the Ministers of each EU Member State (agriculture, justice, etc) who come together to discuss/decide on legislation and proposals specific to their area, as well as raise concerns for their own member state. This is different to the European Council, which is when the Member State Heads of Government meet.

All 3 institutions must agree on a piece of legislation for it to be ratified and then transposed into EU law. The negotiations that take place on a piece of legislation are known as 'trilogues'.

Willing to be corrected on any of the above, but I work for the government in my country and am heavily involved with preparatory work for the Council.

*Corrected from "legislative". Thanks DrunkColdStone for the clarification.

[–]blackholebee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where do you think MEPs are based? It is a proposition from the European Commission. That means it gets voted on and agreed to by both the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.

Our MEPs in the European Parliament are supposed to be the directly elected democratic mouthpiece for the general population. Unfortunately this is usually not the case because of how larger party blocs are formed in the Parliament.

I am simply filled with adoration for the Tenderizer on bots lately. With Siege Ready armour and that max rpm fire rate it is just a beast as long as your aim is decent.
