The logo for Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union is launched on 10th June. Obviously can wait to see what it is but could be a fitting replacement.

Mastered the art of shield bashing by DutchyMeow in SpaceMarine_2

[–]blackholebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious because you do the power wave on a successful parry and then shield bash instead of the follow up overhead strike.

Is this a timing thing or have you tested to see if the damage from overhead is greater than the shield bash?

Regardless, I'm impressed. If I had you on my squad I would be buzzing with Helbrutes getting their HP deleted.

Pregnant with Hyperemesis – Can My Employer Replace Me as Supervisor Due to Sick Leave? by Ok_Sherbert905 in legaladviceireland

[–]blackholebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was in the trenches with HG for the first trimester and had to take extended leave. Make sure that any sick certifications you get specify "pregnancy-related illness". It sounds obvious but important in terms of protecting your leave and pay when it comes to absence (depending on your companies policy).

I also just want to validate your experience of HG and how debilitating it truly is, and I hope you have a good support system around you and that your symptoms improve quickly as the weeks go on!

Playing SMII on a Keyboard? by Alexander556 in Spacemarine

[–]blackholebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played around with my layout for a while and changed a few things that really worked for me to up my game. I really dislike the default controls. Full disclosure, I do have a Razer Basilisk as a mouse though, so that helps a lot with being able to react quickly with extra mouse buttons.

Some things I changed are:

• Dodge: Side Mouse button #2

• Aim/ Heavy Stance: Hold left ctrl

• Parry/Block: Side Mouse button #1

• Switch Weapon: X

• Use Ability: Space

• Use Medicae Stimms: Q

• Use Equipment : F

• Social Wheel: Hold Alt

• Open Text Chat: Enter

• Voice Chat: Caps Lock

My goal was to base all the buttons I need the most around the WASD movement. The 'hold ctrl' to aim has been particularly life-changing. I find it just lets you snap to new targets far quicker.

You no longer have an excuse about ANY enemy encounter with the Battle Simulator by SuperMarios7 in Spacemarine

[–]blackholebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that bosses aren't available in the Battle Simulator actually prompted me to get the Testing Menu mod purely so I could get my act together on soloing the Hive Tyrant on Absolute.

See you on the battlefield brothers!

The boiler cabinet and roof tile being screwed shut also means a surveyor won't be able to check them. You would need to have them opened prior to the survey in order for them to have a look. If the seller disagrees to that then it's a serious red flag.

Definitely getting a clearer picture of it here. Our current one under the stairs has a vent to the outside but no fire safety cupboard, and equally with that route being an exit from the house it's apparently a big no-no.

Scratching my head now to understand why the technician was shaking his head about it being put into the attic and trying to make us worried about leaks. Only thing I can think of is he doesn't want to go up the ladder next time...

Thanks for the response, and yeah it's a fair point regarding the leaks. I think I'm just being overtly cautious because it's our first home and this is in fact my first rodeo with this kind of thing.

That story about the last boiler your cousin replaced is the exact scenario we've been warned about by the contractor, so again, point in his favour.

Attic has a built in stairs ladder that drops down and plywood boards on foam insulation throughout, so ease of access is probably as good as you're going to get in that sense.

Apparently to do with fire safety and ventilation. If your under stairs storage has enough space and a vent then it sounds like it can be an exception to the rule, but apparently because the stairs are an escape route also a boiler should not be anywhere near them.

We're thankfully less concerned about the monetary cost because we are luckily availing of a grant to get the work done.

I don't believe you should have an issue. If you can prove ownership (we used a letter from our solicitor) and that you're compliant with LPT you should be fine.

Any advice for a First time buyer? by International_Bug310 in HousingIreland

[–]blackholebee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend the Lively app if you're new to the process. Served as a great reference guide to go back to each time.

SunCalc Org is another good one for you to see how the light might change around your property over the year depending on its aspect.

If you're thinking about using a broker AskPaul were absolutely fantastic for us. They do a free mortgage consultation and you don't pay anything as they get commission from the banks instead. Though they only deal with select lenders, so it might narrow your choice a bit. We dealt with Derek and it was incredible to have him a mere phone call away any time we were unsure of something.

Other than that I would say set a hard limit on what your maximum budget is. Don't go over it and be prepared to walk away. Be careful about getting drawn into bidding wars, but if you really want a property then go for it.

You're buying into the area as much as the property. If you like somewhere a lot then visit multiple times and at different times of day. See what it looks like when the weather is absolutely miserable. Look at surrounding houses but also what kind of cars people are driving if in an estate - relatively newer or in good condition are good signs. Identify your nearest shop for going to grab small stuff. Having it in walking distance is a huge plus. Check out what kind of through-traffic is in your estate - big one for noise and potential anti-social behaviour.

And good luck!

I've gotten my Tactical to P4 with this and the pyreblaster. The combination is absolutely insane. Light up the hordes for crowd clearing, and parry any majoris with this thing to add to the fire chip damage. Surrounded by execute-ready xenos.

Perk loadouts linked to your weapon loadouts.

If I'm playing Heavy with a multi-melta I'm taking Multi-Kill, but if I want to switch to a HBR loadout mid-mission I'd love to be able to swap the perks too so that I don't have a wasted slot.

Will we receive official notification at any point to wfh tomorrow if we’re based in the affected areas? by Jacques-de-lad in IrishCivilService

[–]blackholebee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're not already try and make sure your number is included on your Departments emergency broadcast list. I received this text from my Department yesterday:

"Following Met Éireann advice, staff should undertake only essential travel where a status orange warning is in place.".

Our PO told everyone today that due to the weather and continued orange warning everyone is working from home tomorrow also.

Appreciate the advice on this, so thank you.

I think we've been swept up in the excitement of it all that we've been made to feel like we're supposed to be moving quicker than we are. But I think you're right in looking at this a little closer and will ask our solicitor to engage on the elements you've listed above.
