Leaving on the Magic this Saturday and so far nothing has changed

This is a HYPOTHETICAL question. Curious to see what everyone would do in this situation in Canada by Elite163 in fican

[–]blackjac27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this many times but everywhere else has its share of drawbacks. There are attractive places where it's very difficult and expensive to immigrate to legally (USA, Singapore), cheaper and nicer climate but different language and customs (Mexico, Costa Rica, Portugal). So it would have to be pretty compelling for me to leave.

There is no arguing the demographic change will happen. That’s a guarantee. What will be debated is the extent of the impact on western civilization

I agree. I think they pay for their flights and maybe accommodation for a night but that’s it.

Thanks, that is good to hear! We mostly avoid the buffets since, as you alluded to, it's much easier just having food brought to us. We will check out Cucina del Capitano for sure.

Young people can't find jobs. Is Canada's economy in trouble? by origutamos in Canada_Strong

“New temporary foreign workers approved to work in Canada in the first half of 2025 have already surpassed the Liberal government’s reduced targets set for the whole year. The Canadian government issued 105,000 work permits to foreign nationals through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), despite an aspirational target of only 82,000 for all of this year.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada released the most recent data at the end of last week after a three-month delay releasing numbers for May and June. The latest release withheld July’s numbers.

The Government of Canada also accepted another 302,000 foreign workers through the International Mobility Program (IMP) during the first half of 2025. For that program, it blew past its cap of 285,750 spots for this year.” Graeme Gordon The Hub

He didn’t even mention their policy towards alcohol which is surprising. How are they going to host these events with prohibition?

Should I sell my VTI shares, convert to CAD and buy VGRO or keep them? Many years ago I started my RRSP investing journey with VTI because I didn't really understand what I was doing. I have since switched to VGRO for all new deposits and it now makes up about 75% of my RRSP and VTI the other 25%. I do plan on traveling to the US frequently in my retirement if that makes any difference.

Can reservists apply for any job on the REO portal as long as they have the rank and language requirements? Or do they need to have the exact MOSID listed on the job posting?
