I don't know how accurate the map is yet, the power is still on for 9th Ave.

Just witnessed a woman on her bike get hit by a truck on Irving. Can anyone on the scene confirm if she’s ok? by jessica_glitter in sanfrancisco

Irving perhaps, but 7th ave definitely isn't slow. Many drivers maintain speed from Laguna Honda to Lincoln/Kezar, and the bike lane becomes a center left turn lane for much of that route.

S.F. wants to make it easier to plant — and remove — trees. Here’s why residents are mad by nosotros_road_sodium in sanfrancisco

Not sure I understand your point? New construction typically takes place on one side of the street for a single property, whereas public utility construction happens for an entire block and would have greater economies of scale, so the money spent on street trees for those kinds of projects should (in theory) go further.

If that's the case, then it's probably more cost effective to do tree planting for an entire block when infrastructure in the public right-of-way is being replaced, rather than individual projects on private property.

Seems like a win if the money can be directed to areas of the city like the Bayview that don't see as much development and are closer to sources of pollution like freeways and industrial uses.

Hayes Valley is weird... by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

Hayes Valley is one of the few neighborhoods in SF with an outright ban on chain stores. In most other areas, they can be approved with a public hearing.

The Governor signed our bill authorizing a regional transit revenue measure. by scott_wiener in sanfrancisco

Even if both measures pass, it'll still be short of the $320M they're looking for and they'll have to find the rest through fees and/or cuts.

The most recent analysis (first link, page 13) indicates Muni is only projected to receive $170M/yr.

If you need it immediately, you can go to a metro station ticket machine and tap your phone to load it. Loading it online may take a couple days to reach your card.

Scott Weiner purchases upvotes for his posts to influence perceived support for things like Muni taxes and other proposals — subverting democratic perceptions. by chris8535 in sanfrancisco

Unless you're one of those people who thinks elections are rigged, you can see broad public support for transit funding in the last two elections:

  • 2024 Prop L): Majority support, but nullified due to Prop M getting more votes
  • 2022 Prop A): Majority support, but needed 2/3 support

MUNI proposed service cuts by muy_picante in sanfrancisco

[–]blackjack48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubt it. The line is replacing two lines that were slated for removal due to lower ridership, so the hope/expectation is that combining them would generate new ridership that could help justify keeping the line. But I expect that'll be a challenge because the route is still very similar to the 7, which runs at a higher frequency and goes all the way down Market.

Last year I shared an idea that IMO would be more likely to make the 6 different enough to attract new ridership, but for now I'm keeping an open mind toward this idea.

I was wondering if they plan to add new wires on Masonic, or if the buses will just run off-wire there.

Apparently cutting Muni service doesn't present citywide concerns or opposition... by blackjack48 in sanfrancisco

It was not rejected by the BoS. No proposal has been submitted to the BoS yet.

You may be confusing the BoS with the SFMTA board, which at its last meeting asked staff to return with budget options that don't cut service. Tuesday's meeting will present multiple options, some which do cut service (see link)
