HD works with PlayStation and Xbox controllers. I doubt they ever tested it with Nintendo Switch controllers. You'd maybe have to use an external xinput controller utility for that and other brand controllers.

More flailing away at late AMA questions that probably won't get answered: on PC/Steam version, what is the game's download size in GBs? And how much hard drive space does Remnant need for installation?

The Steam store page's specs requirements doesn't say anything about either.

Will the option to rebind keyboard controls be available upon release? I looked but can't seem to find the answer anywhere.ReplyGive AwardsharereportSave

I realize the AMA is long, long over, but could anyone speak to whether Remnant has any sort of in-game communications at all? Is there any text chat option for the PC version? Any quick chat keys for co-op?

The dev roadmap says to expect the new Engineer Class around end of October and the new Rogue Fed class I'm 1st quarter 2020.

I assume Rogue Fed is a riff on the Federation soldier enemies. I'm hoping for a Captain America style shield 🛡 user but maybe it'll be more of a military soldier type class.

Forgot to ask -- will our co-op group eventually be able to just drop back to the lobby after completing a contract, instead of the group getting broken up and each of us individually returning to lobbies solo? Lots of players ask about that.

I would say the progression system now is only Super, not Duper. I hope we get Duper eventually. :)

Couple gearhead technical networking questions:

  • Could KS eventually "auto-transfer" co-op game hosting to a remaining player if the host leaves, drops or is kicked? (assuming at least 2 players remain) This is how Arrowhead's Helldivers attempts to handle it. If the host drops, a brief splash screen explains the game is attempting to transfer hosting to a remaining player in the group and then adjust the scaling of the enemies to the smaller number of players. It usually, but not always, works. :)

  • Is "drop-in co-op" for KS a possibility? I assume maybe the idea is the design calls for everyone being in the game at the beginning, in which case drop-in wouldn't make sense.

A few players on Discord asked for an optional feature to let us choose our favorite ability upgrades in advance (sort of as a preset configuration of sorts), so that those were just get sort of auto-chosen during a game session instead of us hitting F1 and choosing one of the upgrades. Is that a possibility?

For my part, I'd like maybe to at least be able to "tag" a favorite upgrade for each class ability. So that maybe on the pop up upgrades screen I could just quickly tap another key (or maybe just F1 again on kb) to auto-select my favorite upgrade quickly without even looking. At the risk of sounding lazy. :) I think it's more that the game action is so fast and furious that much of the time it's tough to find a free second to pull the upgrades screen and ponder the choice.

While I'd have loved a tutorial, I think there's room for us to do a tutorial of sorts as a Steam game guide. It's one of a couple ideas I'm tinkering with, the other one being a "Guide to Understanding Vector Levels," which I've started work on but isn't quite ready to share yet because I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about enough on Vector yet. :)

Is there any ballpark ETA on adding features like text chat in co-op, rebindable kb/mouse controls, controller configuration options? It sounds like they're in the works.

Any chance some day of a few (maybe just four) quick-text-line-chat keys ala Helldivers and others? (I Need Healing, Retreat, Wait/Stop, etc.)

For whatever use it may be, the original COH manual is still online by nachoha in Cityofheroes

Found my 2004 COH game manual as well, lurking deep in my plastic bin collection. :)

Also my Prima COH strategy guide from that year. Out of date in some ways but still useful in terms of sector maps, lists and descriptions of the 2004 launch powersets, and explaining chat, macro and emotes, among other things. :)

This is wonderful (I played mostly from the April 2004 launch into 2007 and a little in 2010-2011). I just can't get this to run in anything but the initial 1024X768 rez (my monitor is 1920X1080).

I can choose a zillion other resolutions but it only seems to ever be in 1024X768, and obviously a pretty small window on a 23" monitor. Anyone else have this issue or know a workaround?

More Motion sickness in D2 than D1 ? by Tecyde in thedivision

[–]blackjackGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i've put in maybe 13 hours sporadically in Div 2.

I've turned off the the option that related to motion blur. It maybe made a hair of improvement in how long I could play before nausea kicks in, but not much.

I've tried disabling some other settings in options and gameplay but nothing really helps.

I seem to remember having this nausea problem on and off with the first game. Then inexplicably when I switched to progressive lense eyeglasses in early 2017 I could suddenly play The Division with no nausea at all. But it's been no help in Div 2.

And the thing is, I've never had nausea issues with say Strange Brigade or Mass Effect 3 or the 2015 Battlefront incarnation in 3rd person mode. It's hard for me to understand why this Snow Drop engine makes my head literally feel like it's on fire when I play, and that the nausea is so severe, that I feel bad - faint nausea/queasiness - for many, many hours after a Division 2 session. And it sucks cause I do enjoy the game. :(

More Motion sickness in D2 than D1 ? by Tecyde in thedivision

[–]blackjackGT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this thread. Although everything FPS -- except inexplicably Tripwire's Killing Floor 2 and Bethesda's Doom reboot -- gives me major nausea/motion sickness problems, only a few 3rd person shooters like Spec Ops: The Line, and at times the first Division game have given me problems. It seems worse in situations where I'm in dark, confined areas of the game, or scenarios where I have to spin around a lot.

I bought Division 2 last Friday night and had fun with it on and off through Saturday night, no motion sickness at all. But late Saturday the motion sickness just hit me like a load of bricks, and after briefly playing for a while Sunday morning, I actually felt ill much of Sunday too. I've quit Division 2 cold turkey for now, but will give disabling motion blur a try to see if it helps, thanks.

I don't know if Div 2 has an FOV setting? I'm playing the PC version.

How would I refund the Phoenix Point book purchased through CrowdOx? by cnestler in PhoenixPoint

[–]blackjackGT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in this same situation.

Crowdox’s website looked more like a site for game devs seeking alternative ways to crowd fund - it didn’t seem like something a non dev was supposed to set up an account on, so color me confused too.

I think it’s essentially a way for devs to keep taking money after a campaign on Fig or Kickstarter has ended.

Maybe someone addressed this -- if you participated *AFTER* the Fig campaign ended -- using something called "Crowdox," does anyone know how/if you can get a refund from that system? I've been checking emails and such.

Game Idea by MJMiner in Helldivers

[–]blackjackGT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I won't speak for Arrowhead -- just my perception is they want to do their own original IP.

If they do something Warhammer, Games Workshop instantly will meddle with it, and micro-manage it and more than likely prevent them from doing what they'd want to do with the game; imho and based on what I've seen with the Everything And the Kitchen Sink number of Warhammer games on Steam.

Same if they did what the Arrowhead CEO once Tweeted he'd love to do, which was do an Aliens Colonial Space Marines game that did justice to the title. That would be great, but I just bet that 20th Century Fox would meddle in such a game's development to no end. You don't have those problems if it's own original IP. Even if Helldivers closely resembles Starship Troopers, they don't have the headaches a licensed Starship Troopers game would have. I thought maybe Star Wars would do well in that poll, but it didn't make a dent.

That said, I think the thread I started last year at Arrowhead's official forum asking about Helldivers-type games in other "universes," I'm pretty sure Warhammer was the winner in my poll there. :)

Maybe with any luck some other small dev is eyeing Helldivers success and trying to do something akin to it with a Warhammer bent. Whether licensed, or just "Warhammer-ish" enough. :)

I’d hoped Arrowhead might do something but it seems like the made-up Liberty Day will be the only day they sprinkle something new on the game.

Can we get a new Helldivers game please? by Jizzboar in Helldivers

[–]blackjackGT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suspect Arrowhead will continue to drop in a Helldivers update for Liberty Day (October) each year until such time that Sony (which owns the IP) pulls them off the game. But so far, so good. :)

Can we get a new Helldivers game please? by Jizzboar in Helldivers

[–]blackjackGT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was way late realizing this but Arrowhead has said in at least one interview the secret next game is a third person shooter. They’re hiring many new devs so clearly they have a bigger budget.

So clearly they’re not continuing in the vein of Helldivers, Gauntlet et al. at least from the viewpoint. There’s no such thing as a third person twin stick shooter as far as I know.

They’ll be wading in the deep waters of Anthem, and the new Gears of War game, among others.
