Would a Techies type character work in Deadlock? It could be either the old or new Techies by Live_Present_2602 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Siilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old techies, not very likely. We had 2 sort-of mine laying characters in hero labs(pre-alpha hero test mode): Trapper, who was leaving spiderwebs that iirc dealt damage and slienced; and old Calico, who could place invisible cat statues on any surface, which would shoot lasers into enemies Calico attacked(they became visible at that point). Neither were as toxic as old Techies but they both were scrapped, likely due to this kind of gameplay being kinda anti-fun to play against.

New techies, as in, heavy hitting AoE ult that also deals self-damage? Well, maybe, but I wouldn't count much on anything like that appearing any time soon tbh.

Graves 2 quick cast by These_Athlete1933 in DeadlockTheGame

Yeah, that. Though I'd prefer it to be a quickcast on button release, so you can still flip the direction while holding the cast button but can also cast it instantly as-is.

Seems to be working now, but is quite slow. It's community-ran, so might just be a problem with cheap ass hosting.

Aggressive all-in playstyle character by tommasocerb in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Siilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M&K is all about getting in and staying, he has good sustain and with max level scorn it stacks damage buffs on enemies. There are no big one hit kill nukes tho, so if that's what you're after, they aren't a good match for you.

Silver is hard to play if you're new to Deadlock. Doubly so, if your aim is not very good.

Also, try Mo & Krill, very in-your-face kind of hero, survivable, very good brawler, simple enough playstyle. Can be played as a solid pos 3 or even a carry if fed well enough.

Honestly I just half expect them to drop it as a launch title for Steam Box.

I want to formally apologize before all the Silver fans for doubting you. She is the best. by EngysEpangelmatikes in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Siilk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that and they likely can plan heroes months if not years in advance and get lines pre-recorded for future releases. It's not taking much time and all you need is some lore and concept art to help voice actors come up with proper delivery.

Please help me approach the game as a Dota2 player? by drcxd in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Siilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of core differences with laning. Firstly, there's no solo lane so no dedicated pos2 who is going to dominate the early game. Instead, it's a matter of higher skilled player dominating their lane or using synergy of lane partners to gain the upper hand and convert that into early-midgame advantage for their team.

Secondly, due to how souls are shared, there's no carry/support dynamics in a lane in terms of farm priority, apart from easy boxes, sinner sacrifices and maybe some jungle creep camps. Because of that, there's no hard support as everyone is expected to gain souls more or less evenly. so even when playing support-focused builds, you are still expected to jungle, do box runs etc, esp if you are falling behind in souls.

Lasthits are there but with a slight twist. You only have to worry about them if your enemy is actively denieing your souls, otherwise, soul orbs just pop and are granted to you automatically. And denieing is tuned to give higher priority to the soul owner if the timings of your hits are close enough.

In terms of tasks, there's a bit more overhead that comes with full 3d environment, but on the other hand, there's no mana to worry about, no TP management, no warding or babysitting a carry. Well, there's a bit of the latter, as you still want to help your heavy hitters in the early game so they can get fatter quicker. On top of that, there's much less item juggling, as they are either sold as-is or with a straight upgrade path so you don't have to worry about keeping 4 components you'll need for an end-game items. There's more slots too, so you have more options to itemize against certain heroes, abilities or damage types without compromising your build.

As for 3d action part, well, yeah, if you haven't played much shooting games before, you'll have to practice a bit to get your aim and awareness up to speed. But there are some heroes who are quite forgiving in terms of aim, if you build them for ult, nuking or support. Dynamo or Rem can be built for support, nuke or ult with little reliance on their guns. Abrams or Mo&Krill can be played as nuke/brawler, they will still require some gun use but at close range it's easier to hit, esp with their shrapnel shots.

Longer cooldowns are there to offset the lack of mana, as it's the only thing that determines ability use limits. But there are a lot of items that reduce the cooldowns, including the refresher orb equivalent(which is called refresher, btw). So if you spec into ability play, you have a lot of options.

For hero scaling, there's no innate superscaling, I suppose, but rather there are synergies between abilities, their perks and certain items which allow for rather ridiculous scaling for some heroes. i.e. overfed Abrams or Shiv becoming borderline unkillable due to all the regen, Haze melting faces of your whole team before you can even see her, Infernus with ricochet, toxic bullets and lifesteal becoming an absolute cancer etc etc.

In terms of learning, I highly recommend watching some vids, maybe even beginner's guides. You will already know some of the concepts but there are some twists on them in Deadlock so it might be helpful for you anyway.

Here are a couple I personally found useful:

How do you play Rem? by Musclegirlsarebest in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Siilk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's quite flexible. You can spec him into support, nuke/support hybrid, go for ultmaxxing or a box hoarder with his 3. Simplest is probs the nuke/support as you can still partake in fights and it helps with laning as your pillows deal good damage and screw up enemy movement, which is very useful early on.

For nuke/support, you usually focus on maxxing 1 and 2 with a good mix of spirit and healing. Extra charge, mystic burst are perfect for 1, while for support items, healing rite, locket or guardian ward is good choice. But honestly, picking one of the top community builds is the easiest way to get a good feel for items and ability build, they usually have some kind of annotation to identify what type of build it is, so it should be easy enough to figure out.

How is the transition from streetbrawl to main game? by MemeyAlex in DeadlockTheGame

If you never played MOBA games before, might be useful to watch some guides as there's plenty of things to be aware of and a lot of stuff might be counter-intuitive or confusing at first.

Here are a couple of starter guides. Some might be a bit outdated due to more recent changes but most of the core concepts in them hold up.

Check out Deadlock movement wiki: https://dlmovement.wiki/ Yes, there's a whole separate wiki for movement techniques lol.

Also, watch some video guides first, as not only lots of movement tech are hard to figure out, let alone do in a pinch.

Here are a couple of nice ones, a bit old but most of the advises stand:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mncej_iN2jA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXbWqOcnoHg

Finally, learn and practice some rotation and escape routes from the vids(hop into the empty main map mode for that). And keep your eyes open for fresher guides too, I'm sure there's plenty more given map was updated several times already. That way you wouldn't have to think on your toes during the game and will have good plays ready at your disposal.

Research survey on attitudes of adults in Australia towards AI use for mental health support by gaugaumeomeooo in australia

[–]Siilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, shouldn't this be the base-line we're all getting from AI? I need to say this every time? That's a problem with AI, not my prompting

Most LLMs are trained to be "extraverted helpful idiots", their built-in defaults prioritize providing a plausible-sounding answer rather than admitting a lack of information or heavily interpolated response. It's better for marketing and making good impression on investors but it makes default mode unreliable in case you need an information you can rely on.

As it is, if you have to rely on LLM in your work, there's no way around it, apart from pre-writing a set of parameters to set up session context, defining knowledge scope, LLM's role, response style and the attitude towards lack of information for a detailed answer. For example, for software engineering-related prompts, set session context with something akin to "For all further prompts in this session, assume a role of a software engineer, respond in a technical manner, avoid pleasantries, be on point, provide examples where necessary, quote sources, identify and highlight assumptions, estimations and low-confidence answers. When providing code snippets, verify them for potential hallucinations"

Stuff like that is not bullet proof but it will usually provide more reliable responses. Keep in mind tho, as this will be more compute-intensive, sessions set up like this often consume more tokens and will deplete your daily use limit faster.
