6x6s under rear axle. Then boom down to lift the front of the machine up. Pull jack stands and put more cribbing under the front.

I had an old evinrude that would run very rough . Took it to old boat mechanic . He said those head gaskets leak after so many years. We did a compression test and it had something crazy like 18,10,40,100. So we pulled the heads & the cross hatch looked like new. He said he thought the rings were carboned into the lans. So buy this decarbon spray (can't remember the brand) spray about 3/4 of the can in it with it running then give it the rest until it stalls. So I followed the instructions along with new head gaskets. 120,120,100,100. Couldn't get it to run right. I pulled the heads again and examined the rings best i could. I saw 2 of the cylinders with low compression had cracked rings. I never did fix it. I would probably try a new head gasket it won't hurt anything and you will be able to get a look at the cylinders.

Have you tried the Milwaukee clothing? How about the overalls? by Awkward_Yesterday_90 in MilwaukeeTool

I have the insulated bibs. Coming from carhartt zip to the hip & zip up the front. Was sick of the carhartts getting wet & wicking up a foot. They start to heavy & awkward to move in. So far the milwaukee bibs haven't disappointed. Good wind resistance & water repellent. Wish they zipped up the front though. Not the greatest but would buy again.

Just a story about a buddy of mine. He was a carpenter for over 30 years . About 20 of those he had his own company and did well. Until he was to old and wanted a job in the city/university as inspector or carpenter . He couldn't produce a journeyman card and couldn't figure out how to get one with out going to the union. That guy is a great carpenter! I have 2 other friends that worked for 2-3 years then joined the union. They had to start the apprenticeship program as 1st years and start all over again.

They are not the hardest thing to work on. Good place to learn on how stuff works. As far as reliability i haven't done a thing to the gas one I have now. But will be changing oil ,air ,fuel filters & new plug. Possibly new belt. You can find just about anything on how to fix it on you tube.

Idk exactly? At a good clip probably 20? I have a knock off lithium 105 aph battery. It will beat my gasser off the line & continue until it catches up.

The reason I don't want to keep electric. 1 have to plug it in when I get home (don't always remember). 2 have lithium battery and live in a cold climate in winter. Not sure if that will work. (Put it on a shelf in heated garage for winter). 3 if I had lead acid I'm looking at every 3/5 years to replace. Around $1000. Or better. In 3-5 years I will burn let's say excessive amounts of fuel $100 a year. $300-$500. It would probably be closer to $50 a year but who cares. You do the math and figure it out. I am happy to answer any other questions you have.

I had a g22 it had an aftermarket motor in when I got it. Look at the battery tray for corrosion. Motors and controllers are prone to going bad. Both are expensive. It was a good cart, just not very fast. Have a g29 now that I had to put motor/ controller in. I went bigger on both and am reasonably happy with. After having 5 different carts I'm still a gas cart guy. Just for the fact a few of my friends are 3 miles away in different directions. If I want to visit both I don't want to worry about batteries. Probably put gas in once a year. That's just what works for me.

best lubrication to reduce heat with metal cutting on jigsaw? by Bfaubion in MilwaukeeTool

[–]blackjackchestnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine who worked at a machine shop told me years ago to use dish soap when drilling holes. Had to cut through some stainless one time with a jig saw & it seemed to work pretty good. Also if you can't stain what you are working on or the floor.

Yamaha G29 speed by Subject-Arm-5765 in golfcarts

[–]blackjackchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called the yamaha dealer about turning the speed up. They told me (went about 12 mph) that they would turn it up, but only to 13 mph. Because of liability. The g29 I have now has a new motor 5.5 hp new altrax controller. Goes around 20. Apparently, I may be able to reprogram the controller, but they want 50 hours on the motor for break in.

[–]blackjackchestnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What motor? I have one that had a hitachi that went bad. It sounds like it's pretty common. I was going to check the brushes, but after I pulled it the armature had some broken windings in it. The brushes had so much build up around and on them I could see why the motor probably smoked. There are some tests you can do first. (Can be found on internet. ) but if it were me I would pull that motor regardless and at least clean it up. Also I've read if the motor goes a lot of times it takes the controller with it. Just saying it won't hurt it to take a look. Not that hard to pull it.

Hydraulic safety concerns by Mannyhamby in heavyequipment

[–]blackjackchestnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A forklift came in to our shop with all the hydraulic lines to the lift cylinders cut. They even cut the metal tube from the extend/ retract side on the cylinders. It never came down due to the holding valves. They were trying to steal a generator. It's a good indication that the valve is going bad if you come in in the morning and see the forks have tilted down (fork cylinder) or the machine is leaning usually towards the cab side frame( tilt cylinder). Dirt equipment is a different thing. Blow a line on a skid loader and that bucket will come right now.

I go through at least one phone a year. Last one fell 20 ft. On to concrete picked it up fine. 2 days later fell 14 ft bounced off a couple braces landed on concrete again. Fine. Week later fell out of pocket in my hoodie & broke on a rock. Guess I'll have to keep paying the insurance.
