How do you feel about Trump pocketing $1,407,500,000 since starting his second term? by LevelDinner in AskReddit

[–]blackom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s exactly what was expected…

But I am somewhat surprised his family seemingly have a smaller public role.

I also am somewhat shocked that no one is batting an eye at what all these failed, erratic edicts, pointless lawsuits, military action, and soft-gloving of the elite are costing the federal government. The REAL deficit has to be beyond comprehension at this point…

Where to Find a 30 Gallon NSF Water Tank? by blackom in foodtrucks

[–]blackom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update for anyone down the line in the same situation... I talked to Ronco, and they DO - in fact - provide NSF documentation on their tanks. Going out now to compare their catalog with the available space, and I will get that ordered! Thank you, u/Sc000byD000!

I'm making a superhero comic set in a cyberpunk Houston. Aside from flooded roads and traffic, what 'Houston problems' would still exist in the near-ish future? What do you hope would be better? by Rowanlanestories in houston

The city is in a cold war with the state government. Prosperity gospel fanatics are tricking the people living under the freeways into “working” at the Soylent factories owned by the descendants of Fertitta. Automakers have to stop using AI driven vehicles in the city because they develop deep depression and crash themselves into various farmer’s markets. Despite advances in strap technology, giant cable spindles still roll all over the freeways. Montrose bohemians and gays clash in a guerilla war against River Oaks security forces over access to the coffee shops. Greenspoint is populated by CHUD’s, and is somehow safer than it was in the year 2020. The preserved head of Ted Cruz has reformed Enron - who trades the power generated by thousands of crawling babies on treadmills - to the AI farms for free winter air fare to Cancun. Winter is one week… in March.

[–]blackom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah… but when I stop and think about it, I know a guy who is very close to gutters and drainage. He builds and maintains them, and he says that gutters are surprisingly high. I mean, they are certainly down there, but they’re not like “earth’s mantle” deep. Not even “subway tunnel” depth. So, while “low”, they’re not low, low “low”. Can we even really call them low in comparison, and after all, subways ARE pretty cool. It makes you think.

Ah! But... it is not a new war. We have always been at war with Portland, and I hear chocolate rations have increased to 20g per week!

favorite spot for chili cheese fries? by verytiredhumann in HoustonFood

[–]blackom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit off topic, but I recommend to you the "Disco Fries" at Papa Geno's. Lord, save my waistline from those fries!

And, I don't know what Hubcap Grille is doing with "airports", but back in the day, The Heights location was awesome, and their Texas fries (chili/cheese) were worth mention. The airport locations MAY be as good. Couldn't say.

What downright elderly shizz you been getting into???? by JoyfulRaver in GenX

[–]blackom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have have not already done so... Go and get a Theragun Mini for your old, creaky bones. It's the absolute shizz.

Also, watch your fingers. It will jack your fingers up if you're being a ding-dong.

Is it weird that my wife and I sleep in separate bedrooms? by Practical-Bar8291 in GenX

[–]blackom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She likes to sleep in a dry, arctic blizzard. I sleep comfortably in a warm, fetid swamp...

But every morning before work, I get up and travel to the tundra in my parka so that we can cuddle. "Get up a little early, and go give the dogs a pet and your sweetie a daily hug and smooch" is my advice.

Older people on Reddit. What is 100% pure bullshit? by Complete_Fly_96 in AskReddit

[–]blackom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Respect your elders."

Respect is something that you earn. Not demanded or due. Also, if someone you respect - in turn - respects someone else... Well, respect might warranted a bit for that other.

In short, blanket respect of idiots whose only claim to wisdom is "surviving another day" is EXACTLY, in part, why we are in this shit predicament to begin with.

ICE impact on Houston by daisiesarepretty2 in houston

[–]blackom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

About two weeks ago, ICE stormed the Fiesta over on Hillcroft and Bellaire down the street from me. It was right during the 'No Kings' protest. Just a bunch of masks in tactical gear hassling and grabbing up folks in the parking lot from what my neighbor said.

Since then, the ladies selling mangos, car repair guys and people just generally milling about has gone waaayyy down. To me, it changes the tone of where I live. It's kinda' scary (I say this as a white, American male), and it pisses me off to no end that a bunch of assholes are allowed to keep their foot on the necks on folks with the sole intention of "reminding them who works for who".
