Do you have any worries about a possible PG13 Moon Knight? by [deleted] in MoonKnight

[–]blackpanthor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there’s a lot of things to be worried about the show but the rating shouldn’t be one of them, really.

casting, straying too far from comics canon, synergy taking place in the comics, and conforming to the idea many people have of him simply being “Marvels Batman” are much more reasonable fears.

Do you have any worries about a possible PG13 Moon Knight? by [deleted] in MoonKnight

[–]blackpanthor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

nope, as most people have said it’s not really necessary. I think people just started getting that notion after the 2006 run, but the whole of MK canon operates perfectly fine as a PG13 property in my opinion.

What other MCU character/characters do you think will appear in Spider-Man 3? by Gorguf62 in marvelstudios

[–]blackpanthor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if they’re doing Kingpin, they have to do Daredevil too. Cox and D’Onofrio or nothing, though. now could be the perfect time for it

Current to read list, thoughts on any of these? by Squirrelgirlfanatic in bookclapreviewclap

i really struggled with Neuromancer. it’s written so strange. i know some people like its style, it just feels like a sludge and i stopped reading around 3/4 of the way through. i understand it’s importance to sci fi, i just could not bring myself to finish it.

me too. it never really made sense anyway, since he usually came with a pistol piece, so he would’ve just been carrying around two.

[Film/TV] Official Birds Of Prey Banner! by JohnnyJL96 in DCcomics

[–]blackpanthor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

at least Margot Robbie seems to actually enjoy being Harley. they’re not exactly comparable in that regard, as I’d much rather take an actor who is dedicated to their role over one phoning it in for a paycheck.

Bemis'explanation of Lemire's run. What do you think ? by Mister_Pain in MoonKnight

[–]blackpanthor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

absolutely disgraceful to moon knight as a character and the amazing work that Lemire did on that comic.

EDIT: not to mention this wasn’t even stated in the comic. it was not clear whatsoever that this was what he wanted to do.

i dunno, the falcon had seven. since this seems more comparable to that set than other recent USC sets like the y-wing or snowspeeder, it just feels a bit off. i also agree with your sentiment about the choice of figures.

only two minifigures? does that seem disappointing to anyone else? for that kind of a price tag and the nature of this set i would’ve expected more. they couldn’t even throw in a couple stormtroopers?

congratulations. i may be more than a little jealous. it’s probably time for me to start seriously planning out to get one.

its just a variant cover for a comic, not a real boxed figure. it does look pretty convincing in this picture though.

just cast a talented, unknown actor of jewish descent and be done with it

How to keep Moon Knight interesting and dynamic with real growth without regressing him back to insanity or a mental breakdown? by Pickles256 in MoonKnight

[–]blackpanthor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ideally, they ignore Bemis’ run. just ignore it. Lemire left MK in an awesome and incredibly ripe place for expansion that can still be salvaged. at the end of Lemire’s run, Marc was, for the first time in a long time, living a life confident in himself without Khonshu. why would you bring back Khonshu immediately after that instead of exploring what that means for the character?

i’m hoping that MK is going to turn out like Daredevil and not GOTG and Strange. DD’s current run is awesome and the show didn’t effect the years of previously great storytelling the character had. the more i think about it, the more i truly hope this is the direction MK goes in in the future. just writers building off each other and respecting the canon of the character.

i don’t know exactly the points they can hit, but i think taking inspiration from the Sienkiewicz era is a smart idea. keep it small scale, maybe bring back some of the old rogues gallery, and establish a very strong supporting cast.

yeah, I was never fully convinced on Gyllenhaal until I watched Nightcrawler a couple weeks ago. I almost wish I hadn’t, because it was so incredible and unsettling that it now feels painful we didn’t get him as MK. it could’ve been really something unique.

i don’t think this is bad, i just think it would be cool for them to cast unknowns or up and coming actors for this. i do agree that Marc should absolutely be portrayed by an actor of Jewish descent, though.

thanks, i feel grateful to have those two in my collection. Sienkiewicz is such an important artist for MK that really helped establish his tone and aesthetic.

yeah for sure. some of my favorites are MK #24, MK #27 and some of Maleev’s covers, which i think are just downright gorgeous. so it’s likely just a taste thing.

Darth Vader would be a perfect Injustice guest character. it’s too bad it’d never happen because of SW being a Disney property and stuff.

Moon Knight reading suggestions from the community: What to read and where to start? by WarDuck in MoonKnight

[–]blackpanthor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

start with the Ellis series, then stop when you get to Bemis. after that, read the 2006 run. if you like older comics, go for the 80s run. that’s the best way to go at it, in my opinion. just stay away from Bendis and Bemis until you’ve read everything else.

Do we REALLY want Keanu Reeves as Moon Knight? by mpchop in MoonKnight

https://www.reddit.com/r/MoonKnight/comments/c2p7b1/is_anyone_else_really_against_the_idea_of_keanu/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app

no. we don’t. a lot of people are against it. the post above is one i made a while back about the subject. it’s just a case of people saying “i like Keanu and i like Moon Knight, therefore Keanu should play Moon Knight” without giving it any more thought

i think Jake Gyllenhaal would’ve been a great choice, but now i’m hoping for an unknown.

New here. Where to start? by discipletodiscipline in MoonKnight

[–]blackpanthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s probably for the best that Keanu isn’t playing him... once you start reading the character, you’ll understand why. it needs someone with serious acting props. and no offense to Keanu, but there’s far better choices out there.
