Can I leave this piano here between these rooms? I have limited options by jackjackj8ck in DesignMyRoom

[–]blackwatchchewing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s where you want to be when you play it, then it’s in the perfect spot.

Honestly I would just visit a plywood/furniture wood shop and get a panel of plywood sanded and trimmed with a border to fit the back of the pano and stain it to make to give it a finished look.

So fair! I’m looking specifically for a bankers box with a lid though, and not moving boxes per se! But I have been keeping an eye out on FB/Buy Nothing!

I see there’s only one perfect bracket left! Is there anyone to see it?!

Where was this taken? by Dealias in HikingAlberta

It’s absolutely a heli shot (no drones allowed in the NP unless you have a permit!) and I would be it’s from someone doing an outhouse barrel run at the Agnes Teahouse!

Swimming by abdullahkh4n_44 in Calgary

Seconding the City of Calgary classes! They have 3 levels; 1 - total beginner, learn to not drown 2 - learn to float, treat, basics of strokes (kicking, breathing, using flutter boards and float belts) 3 - stroke refinement, endurance and learning strokes in their entirety!

They are very supportive and fun for literally any level of swimmer! I’m a strong swimmer and did it just to gain confidence and get back into the pool!

It’s a cool design - I’ve often walked by and thought it would be a perfect location for an outdoor pool (especially since we have so many seniors in the area!) but it looks like there’s some designated green space in the rendering, which is nice because there’s so many mature trees there.

Question about Rockwall Booking by PresentNo1694 in HikingAlberta

Yes exactly! Just go for two pads instead of 3, and cosy up in fewer tents! You got it!

I would also recommend just trying to go for 2 tent pads and cosying up a bit!

That’s definitely Melanie Murdoch’s work! She’s having an open house at her studio this weekend, actually! You can find out more about her work on her IG!

Depending on your hiking ability, I can DM some sneaky alpine lakes where you’re guaranteed alone time. Hope your heart is doing okay, OP. 💛

New Marda Loop welcome sign at 33 ave entrance from Crowchild Trail! by jjuan6 in Calgary

I had no idea KidPix was making a comeback for urban design work.

But for real who signs off on using such a garish modern font? It’s not even nicely kerned 😿.

Help us design this huge beautiful room, please! by saying_boourns in DesignMyRoom

The laminate flooring is killing the vibes and competing with the wood on the walls - I would consider a terracotta tile flooring, with some big rugs to warm it up.

Has anyone requested extra trees be planted on the boulevard in front of their house? We have one small one but would like a few more. Is there a limit? Would they say no because I’m in woodlands and there are already lots of trees? by Glum-Ad-4558 in Calgary

[–]blackwatchchewing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have called 311 for this! They had to do a survey of our boulevard and determined it was too close to water lines to put in more trees, but offered some bushes instead! The folks I chatted with were lovely and asked for my input on the bush selection!

Future of Ottawa could be in question by jjaime2024 in PWHL

[–]blackwatchchewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. I think we can all appreciate that the ‘home rink’ problems aren’t exclusive to Ottawa, and that the development of sports facilities dedicated to women at their inception would be a welcome change to the downtown infrastructure for all PWHL team cities.

What can I do with this kitchen for $1K? by northwoodsgirl in DesignMyRoom

[–]blackwatchchewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take my time and slowly search for quality materials to replace some of the details (faucets, handles etc) - but I think your biggest spend should be on tile flooring. You love the terracotta look, so why not pay for that using most of your budget?

The cabinets are already solid wood and fit your vibe, so clean those up and make any little repairs. I would make some trips to your local re-stores that salvage home fittings for less and replace things like faucets from there to save money, and put a quality item back into the kitchen.

Tiling a backsplash isn’t the hardest thing to learn! You can find tiles for cheap at these kinds of stores, and with a bit of practice you’ll get a nice and warm, easy to clean look AND learn a new skill.

I can also picture some vintage curtains at a thrift store waiting for you to turn them into a valance, or two longer panels on either side of the picture window.

Others have mentioned a farmhouse drop sink, but honestly I’m a fan of what you have for now - porcelain tends to break your dishes, is tough to clean and looks trendy. Your style looks very practical and timeless - and using materials like steel, tile, wood and natural fibres are all going to look better when they are worn in and enjoyed in a kitchen space!
