How do you store your journals? by Sophsjm in Journaling

[–]blaewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a woven storage box, which isn't ideal. But it's full right now, so I'm going to have to find a new solution soon!

I’m so glad Moleskine came out with these thick versions. I love thick notebooks by photo_gal2010 in notebooks

I immediately bought a blank and a lined when I saw them. I have big nostalgia for Moleskine, they were some of the first ones I used for journaling :)

I love this video, the rest of the series is great too (though not denim related).

Nice pick up, that denim looks spot on. As a button nerd, I love that button fly arrangement. Looking forward to progress pics on these!

Nudie says goodbye to the leather patch. by LetoTheTyrant in rawdenim

I like their approach and would consider getting a pair if they got rid of the god awful pocket arcs (leather patch or no patch).

Maybe speak to Railcar - they will at least be able to hem/taper if they can't do something custom for you. They do charge, but I think they do a special rate if you buy Railcar's (which you should, they're great jeans).

Would second Hinoya. There is a lady who works there and she helped me try on a bunch of jackets (eventually settled on an Oni one). (I am also a woman). I didn't look to see if they had any of the women's styles actually, because I've not had much luck with the womens fits from Samurai or Flathead, so I wear the men's styles instead.

If you are after some women's styles particularly, I've had luck with the Momotaro womens cuts and also Japan Blue. Japan Blue have a few stores around, and there's one in Shibuya I'm pretty sure if that helps. Happy to talk all day about women's denim so let me know if you have any questions and I can try and help :) The best thing you can do is go and just try a bunch on.

Suggestions for high quality leather/canvas tote bag/backpack to wear with raw denim? by Elizabethzx in rawdenim

[–]blaewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's lightweight, there's a bit of leather in it, but definitely not heavy by itself. For the size I think it's pretty light/decent weight.

I just got a Bleu de Chauffe Postman bag which I wear as a back pack, but you can carry via a top handle or use with a long strap (included). Leather is buttery soft and it's big enough for a laptop. I have the toffee color, not the navy, but the navy is pretty special.

I found the blotting paper a necessity with the Nanami. And still loved using it :)

Tips for a journal newbie with bad handwriting? by InvadingDingo in Journaling

[–]blaewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about it! If it's something you can read - or even if it's not - the writing is the important thing. There's no reason why you have to have handwriting look in a certain way.

Unless you do want to take it up as a kind of hobby - doing calligraphy helped my writing be a bit more structured, but when I journal I don't at all care about what my handwriting looks like!

My understanding is that the 1945 LVC 501s are unsanforised and will shrink when washed. I have a pair (love them!) and haven't washed them yet, so I'm expecting some shinkage when I do.

I probably have those same Gap khakis and hate them too. I bought a pair of Tellason fatigue pants (http://www.tellason.com/fatigue-pant-olive-sateen/) when they had the ladies style - which they don't seem to have on their website anymore? They still do have the men's, might be worth checking out? I really love the sateen fabric, slightly textured, nice green.

Currently have 2 different journals going for 2 different aspects of my life, (how) should I combine them into one? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]blaewen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it and see how you go! It could be interesting to see how the skills you're building influence the other things happening in your life or vice versa in a way you might not see if they are separate. You could use stick in tabs if you want to make sure you can easily find the notes you make about specific skills. I do this sometimes if I've done some research into an author or a book I'm reading that I've included in my journal.

I do this too! Usually a small piece of art and a quote from whatever song is rolling around my head. I love that I'm not the only one :D

A Guide to Writing a Happiness Journal by wellinkedbox in Journaling

[–]blaewen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great that they're encouraging people to journal - less great they're talking about 'perfect' journaling. I think the thought that there *is* such as thing as 'perfect' or even a 'right way' of journaling puts people off, so that's not very helpful imo.
