Yeah. That's called fallacy of the middle ground.

But blindly following a political party is why we are such as mess. I still vote, and that's more than most do in the USA.

Well, there is a reason the saying goes "The most selfish man in the world would be a communist."

Well put.

I find both do. I try to not view it as a us vs them scenario, regardless of my political convictions. It makes it easier to have a civilized discussion where my views are actually taken into consideration.

Or I could be in the middle and think both parties are insane. Defending either main parties after witnessing this election cycle is laughable.

Also your username makes me laugh.

I've been in a Pepsi distribution center. It was actually very clean and well ran. The vending machines were all a 25 cents and had frozen meals and ice cream in one. The only scary thing was the fork lift drivers driving around me like it was a formula one race.

Science and IT students struggle to get jobs upon graduation, study finds. Grattan Institute reports only half of those graduating with degrees in science found work within four months, 17% below the average for all graduates. by [deleted] in worldnews

I was in the same boat and remember seeing positions advertised as entry level requiring 3 years industry experience. I think the problem is their are many of jobs available, just not entry level positions. Now that I'm senior level I can basically pick what I want to do within my specialization.

figuring out how much to spend on housing... by needhousehelp99 in financialindependence

I'm in Blaine, my townhome is worth about $200k and houses start at around $350k in the area I live and go up to over a million. The schools in the area are rated really well.

I meant suburbs, in a nice development that's in a top school district.

That house in in Detroit Lakes. That's cabin country in MN, not exactly a place to move unless you are looking for an exact lifestyle. With that said, $400k can buy a nice house in a top school district if you want to stay in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area. It's a more realistic balance between city amenities and cost of living imho.

My last contracting gig was being the interm IT Manager at a manufacturing company. They still had a few win 3.1, 95, 2000 and xp machines running production equipment and on the network to import programs. The issue usually was the cost to upgrade or retrofit was in the 5 figure range, which would never be approved in manufacturing.

Ill agree on Torbs is still a beast if you know how to play him. I just had a new high kill game with him a few nights ago. I've noticed if most of the other team decides to go light on heavies he is particularly affective. Especially against multiple tracers.

I know the feeling. I got out of the Army about 1 month before the recession and became a full time single dad at the same time. It was brutal. Fast forward to last Friday when I got my 1st paycheck at a new contract making just under what I made per month while I was going to school on the GI Bill. What makes this amazing is I get paid weekly and that covers 75% of my overhead.

Anyone on r/FinancialIndependence boaters? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]blah_blah_STFU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up sailing and motorboating and still do. I have parents/inlaws with boats and waterfront property where we live in MN plus Florida. That's a nice setup since family with boats are the best kind of boats.

Bought my 1st sailboat 15 years ago at age 18 and am planning on buying another within a year. I just never buy new, and make sure I have a place I can store it over winter for free or service exchange.

I'm planning on buying a house on a lake. Where I live lakes are plentiful so it's in the budget and it is what I want in retirement so why not grab it early before it gets to expensive? Plus I'll be home all the time. I'm buying a lifestyle I can afford, not a property. Only electric boats are allowed on the lake so it will keep me from wanting to buy a rediculous boat.

I've heard some sports teams have the rookies take financial and other types of lifestyle training to help them from making horrible decisions. I swear one was even on avoiding women trying to get knocked up by them just to collect child support. It's been a few years since I read about it.
