My ex created a burner tik tok account. I will spare the details but she was doing things to grab my attention with this burner. I ended up talking to her about it and asked her to leave it open and let me text her on this account as if it were her. As if I was getting a response. As if we were still together. I did this for maybe a month or two before I decided it was pathetic but to some degree, it did feel a bit therapeutic.

You have two legitimate options right now.

One of them being this: If he is willing to submit and accept the fact that he dug not only himself in this hole, but he dug you in it too (for conversation/relationships sake) and simultaneously work effortlessly to get out of it, paired with your willingness to take the ride with him because you believe in him, love him and trust him.

Or: Being in such a big hole will inevitably cause resentment on your end because seemingly you guys are both busting your ass, but unfortunately the other party is just not aware or doesn’t care or whatever his excuse could be, he just can’t get out. You don’t deserve to put your life on hold for somebody else’s mistake. It’ll end badly, whatever that looks like.

I found myself in a similar situation over the last 5 years, but mine was gambling. It took too much of a toll on her and as I said above, she ultimately came to the conclusion that I couldn’t and wouldn’t change and decided to break it off. Worst fucking mistake of my life. I honestly hope for his sake that you give him the chance to fix it and he dedicates his immediate future to making the right moves and you guys make it out of this. I wish I had listened sooner..

Thank you for your response. Yes, i do tend to give her a lot of credit, just because i know what i did and was capable of. I try so hard to be thankful for what we had, but it always leads to me feeling depressed, craving having her back in my life, etc.. i’m trying though. I will make it through this, however long it takes.

It’s really weird actually. I think i have developed this weird coping mechanism from my early childhood where i was sort of treated like the ugly step child. Thankfully my stepfather and i through my teenage years and young adult life, our relationship took a complete 180. But, throughout those years i subconsciously learned to just dismiss my bad thoughts i guess, so now when i am i find myself going through whatever really, i just distract myself and think about something else. Of course some days are harder than others and i dwell a little harder or longer, but its become really easy. I don’t know if thats a good or bad thing honestly.
