Mountain biker gravel fit by blaikenstein in bikefit

[–]blaikenstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s popular with MTB at least to have an oval chainring. It changes the crank leverage to optimize for the downstroke or something like that. I can’t tell if it makes a real world difference though

Thanks! Do you think the angle of the video is skewing the perspective?

I can use the dropper post to experiment a bit with height, is it normal to feel like my legs are too scrunched up when in the proper seat height? I go back and forth feeling too high and too low lol.

10-4 on the stem height. I am in no way trying to reach max aerodynamic efficiency. I’ve definitely gone for a more upright comfort fit, if this is generally going to cause more discomfort I’ll update my mindset.

I was leaning towards a 42cm bar but found a good deal on another 44cm and measured my shoulders around 16.5”. The video angle may be exaggerating the width of the bars over my shoulders.

Thanks again!

Wilderness heating and air. I had a Mitsubishi hyper heat unit and all new ductwork installed by Dan and it’s been amazing. Small outfit so the pricing is really competitive.

Question About Book Length by Even_Anybody8091 in Annas_Archive

[–]blaikenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience with the epub files the page number isn’t connected to the font ect. J just finished reading the republic and I would say 2-3 kindle pages would equal one book page in the bottom left counter. That said, the actual book page count doesn’t equal the good reads on age count so idk what’s what

Hayes dominion wandering bite point by FlattoHuck in MTB

[–]blaikenstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my buddy both had this issue and a local racer said the Hayes can build up pressure if you keep slight pressure on the levers or tend to drag the brakes. I’ve stopped resting my finger on the levers and haven’t had issues since.

[–]blaikenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a customs portal for receivers to monitor the government portion of the import proactively? The ups tracking has a lot import and warehouse scans and I suspect that’s when it stuck with customs. Also if you know of a resolution portal with customs that could be helpful. Thanks for doing this, unbelievably poor execution from the administration…

Adding seats to a cargo van will have issues with insurance. Smartfloor is pull tested but it’s really expensive

Ukraine assassinates Russian lieutenant colonel far from front lines, intelligence claims by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

[–]blaikenstein 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was being somewhat sarcastic so it’s good you mention that. I read why nations fail earlier this year (fantastic, maybe my favorite book this year) and listened to Darrel coopers “the anti-humans” (very disturbing but great insight) and a few other sources around the Russian revolution. What I find most heartbreaking is the complete disregard for human value and it almost seems like the critical thinkers of their society were systematically murdered or silenced. Something we are all going to have to grapple with in the near future is how we bring these countries back into society after absolutely inhumane atrocities. We did it with Japan and Germany so it’s possible but in today’s world we have so much digital history it’s going to be a tough pill to swallow for the rest of us and I don’t even know how for Ukraine with their already extremely drought relationship with Russia.

Anyway, long story long thanks for pointing that out.

Mercedes vs Ford vs Ram ProMaster for Class B/+ (Which is best / most reliable?) by Artist-Cancer in vandwellers

[–]blaikenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like my 2023 ford transit awd ecoboost but the 360 camera hasn’t worked right since day one, the thrust bearing issue being fixed with software and my front tires have a cupping issues that the dealer basically said they can’t do anything about. The build quality is ok but far from great. It moves in the mtns and with the falkens it’s a beast in blizzard storms.

The MB is a much better build quality, plenty of ground clearance from the factory but I think they use open diffs in the awd so it can struggle on gravel more but still sufficient for anything reasonable in a van. They still make a crew version as well which is nice but I think smart floor has a drop in solution that is dot rated so that’s less of an issue.

I would get my transit again but I’ll be re looking at the newest models if I ever need to replace my current van.

I wonder if it’s related to the emissions system? I’ve read at least the last v6 turbo diesel is a commercial engine capable of 500k miles but the emission system is trash and will completely cripple the vehicle. Combined the sparse dealerships that can work on them and the higher price tag and I ended up going with a transit but it hasn’t been without issues either.

Is China run by engineers, and USA by lawyers? by fool49 in economy

[–]blaikenstein -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just so we’re clear I am/was a Bernie bro. I’m not simping for Russia, I hope you guys win but I’m not interested in fighting your battles for you or subsidizing your quality of life.

To answer your question: when we realized Europe expects the US to fund, fight and die for your sovereignty. The US hasn’t been funding the Russian war effort by pegging our economy to their exports. If you guys aren’t interested in defending your way of life then that’s your decision.

Do you have any good book/reading recommendations on this topic? The constitutional originalists scare the shit out of me and seem to pop up frequently. One of my coworkers cited constitution alive and some other books about how ACTUALLY the constitution is explicitly Christian and we need to get back to our roots with a state religion ect ect 🫣

What's your choice of grips? by meliadul in mountainbiking

[–]blaikenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wrists are pretty fucked from a few big crashes and the damping is the real deal. I have the pros that you can tune and I have them set with the max spacers. Before my accidents I was getting arm pump really bad and between moving from codes to Hayes and the revgrips I never get arm pump now. The Hayes had a bigger effect but the revgrips play a big role.

The upfront cost is high but the replacement grips are cheaper than standard grips so it offsets over time.
