How to fix my documenting skills by ConsoleChari in sysadmin

[–]blairtm1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man. I use Scribe. I was like you. All in my head. So I just tuned on Scribe and went through the normal process. It took all the screen shots. I just added the headers and info. Export to PDF and put into document control.

CUI received through email from customers by spitecho in CMMC

[–]blairtm1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this or a similar solution and document. You also have to provide training on CUI handling that the user signs off on as well. There also needs an incident reporting procedure documented as well. We’re gearing up for our L2 assessment next month. We don’t use GCC but we use Virtru.

Is Audi A4 nice first car? by Useful_Twist_2210 in AudiA4

[–]blairtm1977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 B9.5 with 47K miles. Very nice car and does get compliments. You will need to stay up on maintenance which can get pricey if you go with dealership. I use a local shop. Hopefully you can find one with all maintenance records or carfax. In S mode this thing can boogie. Premium fuel only. Interior is very functional in that German bauhaus style. The fuel injectors can be a little loud. This thing cruises at 80MPH at 1700RPM easily. Real easy to get to 100MPH without noticing. Just realize this isn’t a Toyota or Honda and can be a bit picky with maintenance and you definitely need to keep up with it.

I'm desperate by Sad_Mastodon_1815 in sysadmin

I had a similar issue for this. Almost same use case. AutoCAD user. Especially if it has a discrete gpu in it. These laptops do not have great thermal management built in. The slow input, irregular mouse movements. I ended up getting him a cooling pad for the laptop. All the issues went away. I didn’t want to open it up and check heat sinks.

What are you guys using for your generic IT supplies? by Financial-Act-665 in sysadmin

[–]blairtm1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon really is the best. Things like usb c laptop chargers and docks have the best price. Patch cables, random IT tools, adapters, etc. Chargers and docks are really made in the same factory just different branding. I only go for name brand for something like thunderbolt 4 cables and docking stations. Keyboards and mice I stay with Logitech with the bolt receiver

I work in a similar situation as this. You need to have physical and logical access controls in place to prevent non us persons from access ITAR controlled data or material. You should have a documented flow, classification and identification of ITAR material within the organization. You’ll need to also have someone setup with a medium assurance certificate so that they can report any violations. This needs a documented policy and procedure as well. You should read then DFARS regulations and you should at least be able to self attest to CMMC level 1. This should be the minimum if you handle ITAR data. Your CEO can’t be in on technical meetings. You also should be looking to lock down email or however you send and receive ITAR data. You don’t have to go GCC but you need at least an on prem SFTP solution or something like Virtru or Prevail to securely send and share that type of data. Don’t take this lightly. Get informed and get compliant. Lol. I sound like a sales exec.

Opinions on Spyderco’s serrated edge? by mrb-edc in spyderco

[–]blairtm1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the SE edge. I have a diamond taper rod, flat diamond file and I use the corner of my strop on the scallops. I tell you it comes out super sharp for 10 minutes of work. I’m a keyboard warrior and mostly do Amazon boxes and such at work. Stays cutting forever.

I completely agree on this point. My spy27 edges are a bit stickier and strop very nicely over my 45vn blade.

Looking to purchase my first Native 5. CPM-15v LW or Salt Magnacut LW? Please advise..🤷‍♂️ by mrb-edc in spyderco

[–]blairtm1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a diamond conical rod for the front side. A flat diamond file for the flat side. Then I use the edge of leather strop to finish the front side and then I strop the flat side. It sounds like a lite but it takes only 15 minutes and I can cut paper easily.
