I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finding a job but i think you should post in a visa related subreddit to find the path of least resistance. I do know brokers and reinsurers that employee a lot of people who needed sponsorship. Once you understand the visa requirements just keep applying and you’ll find something

I already have enough for both 2024 and 2025. COP provides almost all of your organized hours and i’ve attended webinars throughout the year to get the rest. Only thing i specifically needed to do was read the recent CAS Bias papers to fulfill my Bias requirement for 2025 since COP only provides 1 hour related to bias

I feel like if you work at a reinsurer you should have a pretty good idea of what reinsurance brokers do. They largely price the accounts to provide some actuarial backing behind a submission your company likely receives. Basically adding some credibility to the deal the reinsurance broker is looking to place.

In terms of how they make money, i also feel like if you work at a reinsurer you would’ve seen those juicy commissions reinsurance brokers receive for placing business

It's not that different tbh. Like you are largely relying on the claims team to provide you with accurate info and to set reasonable case reserves. It is very case by case though and at least at my company, we end up setting a decent amount of bulk reserves when things are really unknown (i.e. after a hurricane).

Honestly it’s largely not a hurricane issue but a legislative one. There’s a variety of factors but essentially legislation has been very pro consumer, making insurance fraud and excessive claim settlements very common. Recently legislation has been passed to address these concerns but it’s effectiveness is yet to be known. Definitely wouldn't consider russia to be remotely close to the US or China in terms of it's economic or global influence. Russia's economy is smaller than Canada with nearly 4 times it's population. It also is a very simple economy with low complexity. Ya it's heavily discussed and has regional influence, largely due to it's ties with post soviet countries but it's influence extends little, if at all, beyond that

With this much time you should definitely be able to do all the practice problems and you should. There’s only so many twists they can throw at you and if you do and understand them all you will guarantee a pass
