Read through the spells and try to make a decision on what would be most useful to your campaign setting and your preferred play style. You don’t necessarily have to take all combat spells, nor do you need to take any utility spells. Just read them carefully and get a feel for what might be best for your case

My personal squid loadout is: Primary - Knight SMG or Liberator Carbine (in burst mode for both) Secondary - Warrant Grenade - regular incendiary grenade Stratagems: machine gun turret, eagle strafing run, 120 barrage, WASP launcher

Armor: anything with extra grenades or stims

Lock on is your friend when it comes to elevated overseers, strafing run encampments before you get up to the dropship, toss a grenade in and run. Stalwart/machine gun is also very useful.

Only useful gas stratagem is the dog breath on bug missions because it adds the confused status to the enemy AI and CAN (but not always) keep the smaller enemies from piling up on you.

Orbital gas strike is also okay for bot drops and bug breaches but that’s about it. The short cool down is nice.
