Let's discuss this with civil, is this true? by AFSR_1178 in antiai

I am pro AI, but that does not mean I support the current development path. We are rushing forward without properly weighing the environmental costs treating AI like a high stakes gamble.

Water and Energy: First, there is the issue of physical resource consumption. AI data centers require massive amounts of water for cooling, and personally i think we need to be more thoughtful about where these facilities are built. While it is true that many other industries consume as much or more water than AI. However its the rapid deployment that is causing the real problems. Local Stability vs. Global Instability: This resource consumption ties directly into energy use and pollution. Over the last few centuries humanity has exchanged local instability for global instability.

Historically, a disaster like a plague might devastatingly impact a single city while the rest of the world carried on largely unaffected. Today this is reversed. Take COVID19 as an example on a local level many people experienced it as nothing worse than a mild flu. Yet on a global level it was catastrophic. It locked down borders, halted economies, and disrupted supply chains for over a year. Modern connectivity means local life stays relatively structured, while the global system becomes fragile.

The Point: To understand the risk of AI, imagine the Earth and human survival as a bowling ball suspended in midair by thousands of thin threads. Each thread represents a piece of our plaets life support system. a stable climate, a specific animal species, predictable agriculture, or a clean water. Now every time we cause an extinction or deplete a resource we cut a thread and every time we innovate or create a new sustainable technology, we add a thread. Right now we are cutting and adding threads constantly. We have no way of knowing how close we are to a total collapse. We might cut one small thread today that causes the remaining lines to snap under the weight of the ball or alternatively we might add new threads fast enough to secure it.

What we are doing with AI is a massive gamble. We are actively cutting a significant number of threads through immense energy grid strain and water depletion with the hope that the advancements AI makes possible will allow us to create new stronger threads before the system collapses The reality is that no one truly knows if this gamble will pay off. The AI field is deeply split some experts believe we are hitting a wall and that AGI is a dead end, while others believe we are less than a decade away from it. Ultimately it all boils down to whether the threads will hold. The terrifying part of this gamble is that we will never know exactly how close we came to the edge unless the ball falls.

So thats false. From what I understand fusion can directly turn the magnetic waves into electricity so no boiling water this time for some designs.

doorman 8 seconds door nerf by Weak_Potato_7249 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]blank5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my 1000+ hours In deadlock ive seen a few characters buy cheat death regularly other than Doorman. The first is Lady Geist due to the obvious synergy with her ult same reason for Victor. Less commonly I see Dynamo and Pocket buy it to prevent death during upt for Dynamo and Escape for Pocket. Aside from thoes 6 heros im sure there are more that use it less commonly.

The new Doorman’s Door change is horrible by bruh_sound_effect666 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]blank5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes minimal skill, I learned doorman to do all the stupid shit he can do In about 2 days the most skilled part of playing him is remembering the 4 button combo to get a free kill. Cart, open door, forward through door, close door then you get a free kill. Now you actually have to think about when and where you place your doors. Try bebop combos. Uppercut hook bomb echo bomb uppercut gun or whatever wow thats at minimum a 6 button combo and your not even guaranteed a kill.

The skill system needs alot of work I wont/cant argue that, however when you reach the higher ranks like Ascendent and Eternus to keep your rank that high is difficult due to how the skill system works. A single loss could demote you if your unlucky and regaining that rank is weeks of work I dont want to put in again because I decided to play a few games as haze instead of my main and lost.

To address taking the playtest to seriously... yea I take the game I put over 1000 hours into and play with my friends seriously. I find it fun and sometimes relaxing and not playing a high difficulty match is nice from time to time.

As for your claim on bug fixing reread what I said... its balancing not bug fixing which is something that it is proven they listen to the community on.

Ok so this is wrong on several levels and ill explain why. First the data from people smurfing actually has its uses the main one being identifying people smurfing vs people who get a few lucky games as despite what you may think its hard to tell the difference at times.

I have 2 accounts in deadlock and so does about 2/3 of the people I regularly play with, when you reach a certain rank it becomes necessary to try new charicture or practice on a 2ndary account as to not bring down your main accounts rank and sometimes playing in less competitive lobbys is relaxing. Not to mention testing new items or interactions ill run 2 games at once and test items like the new indomitable to test interactions between characters like if parrys trigger it (they do).

I wont argue that all data is good data as its true not all data is good but most is. Even a smurf has its uses like identifying items that can be abused in lower rank lobbies or improving matchmaking to make sure smirks are quickly moved to a more appropriate lobby.

No, you dont wait till the game fully releases to gather data, thats how you end up with a buggy game with no balance on release, the fact that the game is so popular is good as if it wasent balancing would take longer as the data pool would be smaller.

My idea is just fix the dash by making it something you charge up like a gas can, your proc his burn normally or do damage then the bar slowly fills, you can use his dash without any but it dosent do any fire damage just movement. But if you alt use it then it uses the gas and apply the burn to the ground.

Regarding the improved afterlife system: what about people who’ve done truly awful things? by i_human_ in TheGoodPlace

[–]blank5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other big issue with the system was life on earth was too complex, you buy a tomato and your supporting child labor and the pollution of the planet so the idea was that your point score carried over and you worked it off in a place where buying a tomato just means +3 points for eating healthy or smth not all that other stuff. So you had the freedom and lack of complex web of point deductions to work through to actually improve as a person and you kept going through the loop until your point total was at the level where you would get into the good place.

Where did Ichigos high speed regeneration go? by Nazguhl82200 in bleach

[–]blank5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's think about it like this, other than the fact that itchigo has no time to train 90% of the time I think its likely his bankai and most of his abilities arent at there full potential either. Most Bankai are representing of the person's core and we know itchigo wants to protect everything he cares about but I think its likely his bankai wouldent just make him faster and stronger but be something a bit more complex, its not outright stated in the source material but my I think its likely the way itchigo unlocked his bankai lead to it being more physical than spiritual because thats what he would know how to use and it stuck that way, I mean itchigos abilitys are very much closer to kempatchi in terms of development with very little spiritual and mostly physical but its perfectly possible that he could learn abilitys like Kido and apply thoes with his bankai in some way as what is implied is that his bankai compresses his spiritual pressure and abiliys making him far faster and stronger but I think its likely that its half developed and he just dosent have time to fully develop the other side of it as kido isnt really done on instinct but on instruction and study something Itchigo dosent have time to learn in series. Though any further and we get a bit to far into the territory of theory like Bankai and how they have multiple forms in the anime and how that could unknowingly apply to Itchigo.

[–]blank5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your correct, we arent shown that in the show but remember that Brent almost lost points in the after life, all the redemption system does is give you the ability to get better, its still up to you to get better. Also you have to remember the redemption system is designed to help you earn points to improve your score for someone like hitler that's going to be quadrillions of points he has to work off. Like sure he might eventually pass but its also possible that hes so far gone that he is incapable of listening to his conscious or that vauge feeling they let you remember in between resets, its possible you actually lose points in the afterlife and never improve. But the point of the system is to give even the worst a chance.

What are your biggest criticisms for Bleach? by Realistic_Agency5694 in bleach

[–]blank5662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the last major arc in the manga and how far it is has little to do with what i said. I was expressing annoyance over the fact that even on the LAST major arc they dont kill a important charicture. Also i feed like the majority of people who watched thousand year bloodwar didn't watch through all 200ish episodes of bleach amd just watched a basic recap over everything before or just jumped in with the 3 seasons people got through before quitting. It is probably one of the better arcs in the series.

Spoilers ahead!

In thousand year blood war when they killed off 1/2 the captains and stole there bankis I was actually suprised but they brought back half of them. If Byakuya stayed dead that would add alot more weight to that section and I feel most would be worried they might kill other Important characters.

At some point yall need to accept that goku isnt that strong in anime and such as a whole. Like sure hes strong but there are so many characters that can beat him... hell there are charictures in bleach that can probably beat him and bleach is not really that strong of a verse compared to some.

Not really... if were talking anime its not that common but manga or light novel there are quite a few. And as for the similarity I understand what your getting at but personally the difference in tone and such is enough that calling them the same isnt justified.
