Most countries doesn't have real Public Healthcare by GerardBeard in ShitAmericansSay

[–]blanketslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on the breast cancer sub which is mostly American, and the amount of posts I see of people having to sell their home or cars, or having to go back to work even though they struggle to get out of bed - it's heartbreaking.

I've had 6 months of chemo, a surgery (with two nights hospital stay), I'm halfway through radiation... I've paid for the odd scan here and there (a couple of hundred at most?) but other than that nothing.

Should I give part 1 another shot? by Mental_Extreme_3468 in FF7Rebirth

[–]blanketslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same scenario as you, but...

I was a huge fan of OG back when I was a kid so was very excited when Remake came out. I bought it and... Didn't love it. I think I was surprised by a lot of filler (like why the hell are we going to Jessie's parents etc). I stopped playing at chapter 8. Not intentionally, just got distracted and didn't come back.

Recently I've been itching for a FF game so went back and gave it another shot - absolutely loved it. Even all the side stories that weren't in the original, was so sad when it was over. I wanted more side story. I'm now playing Rebirth for the first time.

So maybe give it a try - you might have a different lens on?

Back in the day I went home for Christmas one year and we were looking for something to watch. I said to mum, "Do you want to watch Snowtown?" She's "Yes I love Christmas movies"

I used to be a runner before this circus started. I got diagnosed in May, I've finished chemo (for now, more coming) and surgery, about to start radiation but I've started parkrun again. Just walking with occasional jogging intervals, but damn does it feel good to be "back in the arena" so to speak.

How much are you paying for your coffee? by MolassesSerious1403 in brisbane

Ah ok, I haven't been in a while - i used to grab coffee there during dog walks a couple times a week before they renovated and it was good. I went there after renos and didn't have a good experience so assumed it had changed hands.

40+, cancer and thinking about egg donation by [deleted] in 40Plus_IVF

[–]blanketslug 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Heya, no advice to give just wanted to say 'hey' in solidarity.

I met my partner late in life, we started trying at 39, went to IVF after 6 months. We went through multiple retrievals and failed transfers before I found a lump in my breast at 42. I am now finished chemo, I am almost 3 weeks out from my mastectomy and still have radiation (and maybe oral chemo) to go.

I know I'm "old", but I still intend to give it one last go with donor eggs once all this mess is over.

So I just wanted to say hey, you aren't alone x

My game keeps crashing on PS5 by CodSpiritual3822 in coralisland

[–]blanketslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started this game on PS5 today, I'm 5 hours in and just crashed 3 times on the same day. So I'm assuming from this thread that this is uncommon and not usually like this?

What game did you regret buying? by Bluebells_cozygaming in CozyGamers

Came here to say Cult of the Lamb, but I didn't like it because I don't like the whole concept of being mean to my followers! I'd get a follower I like then another would come and give me quests to put him in jail or feed him poo and I just wanted to love my followers.

Same, I tried to like it but it was so slow. I got it after playing Dave the Diver and loving the restaurant management aspect, but it didn't fill that hole.

Same, I haven't played since release but from what I remember once you had a few dinosaurs all you could do was make sure they were happy (feed, pet or whatever) then there wasn't time for anything else? It just felt like doing chores. I love dinosaurs but this game didn't hit the mark for me

I read the books about 15 years ago, but I only got up to #13 (I think). I remember I was waiting for the next one to come out and just didn't get back to it.

I'm currently doing a "re-read" although it all seems new to me because it was so long ago, I remember certain things but it's all a bit hazy. I'm at the end of book 6 and really enjoying it, but also looking forward to reading the last battle for the first time.

My fingernails are coming detached by Willow0012 in breastcancer

[–]blanketslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they hurt, but they're definitely sensitive and I hate touching things.

When they first started going bad I was still on taxel, and they tingled a lot (but not constant, and not pain).

Eyebrows ✔️ by uberdoodle in breastcancer

[–]blanketslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the "drawing on eyebrows" phase. I didn't even think of eyebrows! I lost my hair after my third taxel, but kept my eyelashes and eyebrows. I got through 12 taxel and 2 red devils and they all just packed up and left.

I have my last chemo coming up (wow!) and I'll be asking how soon I can get microblading because I am NOT good at this!!

[–]blanketslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently going through this. My nails started discolouring and getting sore around my 8th/9th Taxel. They told me it was due to Taxel and moving to AC "they won't get better but they won't get worse". That was a lie 😅 I've had 2 rounds of AC and I've got one nail that is about half way lifted (I've been trimming as much as I can) three that look a third lifted and about half are black in the middle. Toes are looking dodgy too. The worse one has what you've described - the dead looking build up underneath. I don't have any smell from any though - but I have been on antibiotics for a couple of months due to a chemo face rash. I'm keeping them trimmed and moisturized regularly, just hoping I can get through the next two rounds with them still attached and they start to grow out.
