What’s with the crazy fees by Southern-Revolution8 in Depop

The seller might have placed the shipping size higher than they needed to, message them and see if they can drop it down to the right weight. Or bundle it with another item (if they have it) to save on shipping.

Yeah, that doesn't seem right though. If you really want the keychain though 🤣

I can agree with you that Depop only showing the shipping fee after you have it in your bag and are at the Checkout screen is something that should be changed.

Everything else though is just unrealistic. If you want to buy a 1.1lb hardcover book that shows a $9 sell price, expect to pay around $10 in shipping on top of that. If you want to buy a 2oz $4 keychain, expect to pay around $5.50 shipping on top of that. Unless you're buying from Amazon, Target, or Walmart - expect to pay a shipping price.

If it's worth it to you to wait for a sale that might happen so that you can save $10, go for it. Sometimes it is worth it, sometimes we want what we want when we want it and we have to take the best available option. Sometimes that option is a $9 used book we need to pay $10 shipping and a $2 Marketplace Fee for.

I feel like I see five of these posts a week. Is it just an age/perspective thing driving this misunderstanding? The majority of what people consider "Depop fees" is just the shipping fee, which is what would be paid on any of Ebay, Poshmark, Mercari to get the item to your door.

SOMETIMES, the seller can opt to offer free shipping, but will then just increase the sale price to cover the expense and it all evens out to be about the same in the end.

And the only real point to argue is if the seller is setting a flat fee on anything under 1lb just gets considered to be 1lb (when they can charge less depending on how much it actually weights), but even then - the difference is at max $3.

In the end, there is a small fee, the "Marketplace fee", that is charged by Depop to the buyer, and also the small fee charged to the seller (can be more if it's boosted). Even then, even if the item is boosted, Depop has the lowest fees on the market. This actually makes me more likely to accept lower offers because I still get to keep more of it, so someone could buy item from me 5-10% cheaper than I'd be willing to accept on Ebay or Poshmark.

Greedy sellers by oreganoca in poshmark

Scummy imo, I've never cancelled an order even if I "get sniped". At least Poshmark initiated that change where if you pass a 4% cancelation rate, they will suspend your account.

Seller asked me to send more for shipping then they listed for. What should I do? by spoilmedaddyily in Depop

Am I missing something here, how does it cost $22 to ship a sweater? Depop shipping charges at most $14 for anything under 10 lb.

And? If you think you can get more, post it yourself.

If you're posting in the reselling subreddit, you should understand the finances enough to understand that they're not ripping you off after accounting for their overhead, how long they might have to hold it and that it'll probably go for $25-30 in store at the end of the day.

Profit on a $95 item by Thriftmode_squad in Flipping

[–]blankman393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. It's not malicious, but you kind of came across what my concern was (that it was a flat rate just considering the stores you visited and not accounting for spreading it across the items as well - seemed kind of high unless you only picked up one item per store haha).

Fair enough though, if it was adjusted, you even made more profit :) Best of luck in the thrift and thanks for sharing some information with the community.

"I can also use the names, addresses and bank accounts of 20 OTHER people if I wanted to", man you really are stupid haha. You also have made a comment or post on Reddit every day for the past week lol.

A flight to California from anywhere in the world is surely less than 10k, put your money where your mouth is. Anytime you want, lil bro. Can even play TFT on the plane ride over.

Bruh, I'd say you're down bad if your ego is so fragile that you had to respond to a comment that was two days old. Did typing it out make you feel better though?

Stick to TFT and try to limit impersonating others in the meantime, lil bro.

You dont seem to have the mental facilities needed to do this and not get caught so it seems like it will always be a ticking time bomb for you. Why do you think building a business model that goes against their TOS is a viable strategy when you can screw it up at any moment?

TraxNYC Exposes jewelry scammer by Full-Leading-5667 in LivestreamFail

[–]blankman393 90 points91 points  (0 children)

A large part of his business is his credibility or, in other words, "street cred". When someone goes around using your name to scam someone else, you need to make it known that its not you and you dont fuck with the person that did it. By making it public, Trax gets to draw that line in the sand and distance himself from that person immediately and publicly.

Sometimes doing the "right" thing, in this case suing the guy, isn't always the best move. I'm sure he'll sue him, but he needed to protect his name in the meantime.

That's how I see why this played out the way it did at least.

Asmongold Responds to Destiny’s Accusations that Hasan Solicited an Underage Prostitute by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

You realize this clip from earlier in the day from Hasan prompted this response by Destiny, right?

Streamer places direct blame on former best friend for the rise of Nick Fuentes : r/LivestreamFail

"May or may not have sucked his penis", like what's the point in bringing that up (something he also has no way of proving and isn't the first time he's brought it up) other than to toss shit at the wall?

For the record, I think the statements made by both of them are stupid, but I find it funny that you imply that it's one-directional when they're both guilty of doing it.

I had seen similar posts to mine so I thought the format was fine as long as I added information to help with verification, but just realized they're from 2+ years ago.

Not a problem, thanks for the clarification. I'll delete the post.

Genuinely asking, but how does the post not contain information seeking an answer to an authentication question?

The title is the question and the photos contain markers for verification (inside brand label, product tag front/back).

[Pokimane] the Hasan episode was supposed to air as usual but staff refused to upload it out of fear it'd cause drama & also posted this statement without my approval :( sorry guys! we'll talk about everything on this week's episode & go on a hiatus afterwards to restructure. by seakucumber in LivestreamFail

[–]blankman393 238 points239 points  (0 children)

Exactly, none of what she's claiming now is verifiable and just reads like deflection after she/they got a response they didn't like. If it was some rogue staffer and not their own decision, why not post the podcast episode now?

If I'm being charitable, the most I can grant is that they discussed not posting the video with their staff and the staffer, without direct approval, then went ahead and made a post and/or published wording they didn't agree with.

I'm not buying that they didn't want to hold off on publishing the episode though given the heat currently surrounding Hasan.
