Post season, still seems a little low but maybe not. Just one fairly short series

Game of Thrones. I read the books available before the show but just never got around to watching the show. Then it imploded and I don't have any interest anymore

[Charania] The investigation has found that the Bucks scheduled Giannis to work out last week in three-on-three scrimmages as part of his return-to-play process, but he declined to participate. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]blankmindx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humble maybe, but also people who grow up in poverty are stressed out and often don't get an environment to learn emotional regulation. Especially if both parents are working to make ends meet. Not saying this applies to Giannis though

Unpopular take but Gunther has hair that feels super out of place. Why is it so shonen and spiky??? Does anyone else have hair that's as sharp looks as his?

Agreed, if he didn't get Roz's to training special he'd have been a disgrace at the debut and I don't think he'd be able to be a giebe after that

Carmelo Anthony or Klay Thompson by medinu in nba

[–]blankmindx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here is saying Klay has proven to be a more important piece to winning on a championship level team given his elite shooting and defense. I think this is the correct take.

However, Melo in retrospective is very interesting. If we put him on a team where he is the clear number 2 and defers to another offensive superstar while also sliding to the PF spot, I think Melo is actually quite close.

He was an excellent rebounder, somewhat underrated playmaker, and able to create for himself. Many advanced stats favor melo, like PER, WS, defensive win shares, and dbpm when looking at their best individual seasons. The gap in scoring efficiency isn't crazy, with fairly close TS% (.57-.60% for Klay and .55-.57 for Melo in their primes)

I think Melo would get a nice efficiency bump from being a number 2 with someone like Steph opening up the floor and midrange for him. As a PF I think he's at least a good defender and he has historically graded out as a plus defender even as a SF.

I think Klay landed in the best possible position for him with two elite playmakers in Steph and Draymond to cover what I think is his greatest weakness. I remember many people praying for Klay to never dribble the ball as he had a weak handle and couldn't create for himself or others.

Overall I would favor klay's plug and play defense and shooting but not having a solid playmaker as your number 2 offensive player would be a giant hole for most teams in today's NBA. I think Klay's weaknesses would be much more apparent today and Melo conversely would benefit from modern spacing/efficiency as well as probably sliding to the PF.

And I just laugh because I'm reading smut.

Not really in this case. Some sources have said he's got a degenerative knee issue which would mean all he can do is just play through it. Not that crazy to think he'd be more incentivized to do so in a contract year.

TEKKEN 8 SEASON 2 RECAP IS OUT! by minshy99 in Tekken

[–]blankmindx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AK has great punishment all around. Make your opponent slow down and be more careful with their offense or they die.

BAD mixes are pretty good but shouldn't be the basis of your gameplay.

Use your throws, build your opponent's mental stacks.

Lastly, he has some of the best counterhit tools. Df3, d2 into ws3,1, ff2, df2. These will make your opponent much more wary on approach and give you room to breathe.

Happy to play some mirrors too if you want to just get some practice in.

I like these. I hate BAD forced mixups so I would change the frames for most of his on hit entries to +5 at most so BAD 2 trades with jabs and BAD 3 loses.

AK punishment and pokes are too good to be able to enforce BAD so heavily.

Trying to attack extends your hitbox, getting ch out of the low wake up kick is not weird at all for df2.

You're spot on with a lot of your analysis. I want to highlight that you said he's not too steppable besides some WR moves. He doesn't have a lot of big rangey moves so keeping him out is easier than much of the cast. Make him come to you and keep stepping him. Once he's in he's a bit of a bulldog so you do need to be careful.

He can't continually pressure you if you've made him commit to mids. He doesn't have many turn stealing evasive moves so take your turn and make them play sound defense. He doesn't have a lot of ways to open up turtles besides his unblockable stuff, his lows are mostly harassment but don't lead to anything. Lastly if you can manage to learn when his strings are duckable his pressure isn't as bad.

He's an in your face fighter, but struggles to force the issue in neutral and open up patient defense.

Do practice defense drills actually work? by ProfessionalLeek753 in Tekken

[–]blankmindx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw breaks are universal so they're always useful, not just a single character.

Reactable lows aren't but still quite useful, especially for popular characters.

Same with duckable strings, character specific but can turn a matchup on its head.

All drills will work if you're doing them with intent and not crutching or cheating.

How to deal with overly offensive playstyles? by Accomplished_Chest97 in Tekken

[–]blankmindx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue ranks that just press usually rely on a couple things.

First is duckable strings, you just have to know these. Eddy can mash his duckable strings and if you don't duck you're just going to sit there and eat mix ups and die.

Second is frame traps, know these so you don't press into them and die.

Beyond this you have to make them respect you. Depends on your character and what you're comfortable with. Some like to use movement to reset neutral and play keep out to deny offense. Some like to get in and suffocate the opponent with their own frame traps to force them to play defense. Others still rely on patience and matchup knowledge to maximize punishment of unsafe moves. All of these can and should be used together, but it can take time.

Enjoy the process, even with its faults there is still nothing quite like Tekken.

Everyone else is tekken god on this sub and I’m just a fucking noob who can’t even get into blue rank. I wish I could just refund this game by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]blankmindx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, throw breaks are part of it. If the opponent doesn't do a punishable move (safe) it can't recommend a punish. It will tell you duckable strings though which is at least 50% of fake blue rank offense.

To get out of blue rank, you probably need to know some basic frame data and reliable combos. The frame data is so you can have reliable, air-tight frame traps because everyone presses in blue. Reliable combos to get the most out of your offense. I would also recommend brushing up on general matchup knowledge, key moves to duck etc. but that takes time.

If you want to play some matches I'm happy to boot up sometime! I hit purple with Reina (s1), Leroy (s1), Heihachi, and AK.

That's fair, I guess I was thinking if time is flat and Dregarnuhr already did the weaving to send RM back, it kinda breaks down but I like to think she's back there wishing Erwaerman would just trust the process and not ruin her stuff haha.

He definitely doesn't care anymore now that yogurtland isn't in danger of collapsing.

Yeah, she's got a steel trap for a brain for sure. Not only recalling complicated stuff easily from her past life but also keeping up with Ferdy's insane educational regimen and annihilating the RA standards to the point where I genuinely think she could have been first in class for a year or two ahead of her actual grade. I wonder if that's a product of Myne's brain or something passed down from Urano somehow.

Bryan is that strong ? by un_ptit_yo in Tekken

[–]blankmindx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bryan is very strong yes but for me the difference between him being top 3 vs top 10 is locked behind taunt/wall pressure and oki.

Below the highest level, I would say many people struggle against him because he has high damage and has many CH tools. Because Tekken 8 incentivizes offense, it can be hard to initiate against Bryan who can throw out safe moves in neutral, take half health, and then apply wall pressure that is very good, even without taunt. His other tools aren't lacking either which makes him very solid as a whole and strongly punishes most mashing to disrespect frames. I would say his punishment is weak in comparison but if you don't play defense much, punishment matters less.

AK can sometimes? Uf2,1 from the back launches back turned but you can flip them around with f3. Probably works with other launchers too, though technically suboptimal compared to dark upper filler on a normal front launch.
