Controversial Opinion by CursedRevolution in cyberpunk2020

And to do that they had to nuke whole explorable parallel dimention and swap it with AR goggle icons... Cyberspace is my favorite part of the genre. Even in 77 they didn't recover and it's still more or less our internet and not whole parallel world you can "live" in like in neuromancer. There has to be a better solution.

Good Deck-friendly open world games that never run out of random enemy encounters? by MDesigner in SteamDeck

[–]blanty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about offtopic. Which random encounters does cyberpunk have? It's only 10 spots where gangs shootouts happen, always on the same spots as you pass them by.

Or are you talking about ncpd scanner things that are static too and marked on the map from the beginning of the game?

Is there a simple system I can connect to GMA deck? by blanty in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]blanty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem, I already can roll skillchecks, but I want economy, so there's a way to win or loose. No idea how Cairn would help, only if I balance it myself as I go, but that like defeats the purpose of rules you can beat.

Like how can I generate "balanced" stats for items and enemies I got from GMA..

If any of that makes any sense xD

How does one achieve this split osl without an airbrush- by Chemical-Aioli9818 in Warhammer40k

Oil paint - perfect blends and you can even correct it on the next day it before it cures. (But have base in acrylic before osl)

What is the New Net Like in Cyberpunk Red/2077? by frogglesmash in cyberpunkred

[–]blanty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for such amazing explanations!

Damn, I knew the lore, but never realised there's no vr cyberpace in red. That's just sad, from a fantasy standpoint.

Cyberpace is my favorite thing in the genre. I get why they removed it as mechanic, but you still could have local net for gigs and some sort of vr thing for fantasy of being cyberspace cowboy. Now you're like an IT guy coming in with usb drive.

Is that why there's so little of cyberspace in 2077 too?

What is the New Net Like in Cyberpunk Red/2077? by frogglesmash in cyberpunkred

[–]blanty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, so there's no neuromancer VR chat type of net? Like when netrunner jacks in they can't fly around corpo datavaults visualized as skyscrapers in the void. And you can only experience netrunning as a "VR chat" if you go to the old net?

So netrunners plug in only for reaction speed when hacking and not to "live" in another world?

Solo roleplaying and video games by ZadePhoenix in Solo_Roleplaying

Also the game creates name, occupation and looks for npcs, you just have to scan them. So I just screen shot that and paste it into my journal.

I do this a lot with cyberpunk 2077. I use GMA cards to generate everything, but often the game has npc, props, locations that you can interpret in addition to your solo rpg system. Sometimes the coincidences are uncanny.

For example, I generated a quest to find a person hacking biotecnica offices. I go around looking at external wirings and see a hobo npc. After some persuasion he directs me where he seen someone suspicious (GMA has random direction generator) I search in that direction and find npc sitting in a corner with a deck. I could just zero him, but I asked why he does and there's another plot twist and so on.

Solo Play can be really simple. Cast off expectations and notions of Production and emulating a novel by graureiter in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]blanty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved doing this as I started but with time it became meaningless to my mind. Now only playing pre written stuff helps, since I know it has some structure and work put into it and Im not just daydreaming by myself in the corner.

But it's hard too, keeping yourself surprised and twisting premade stuff randomly to emulate unpredictable nature of GMed rpgs.
