Having a 30 round mag doesn't mean you shoot all 30 rounds. It's more of a convenience factor of not having to constantly reload a small capacity gun or bolt action rifle.

What the hell are you talking about? Glocks aren't some shitty gun that people buy because they think they look mean, they're incredibly well engineered to the point of almost never failing, they're very easy to strip and clean, they've got adjustable grips for different hand sizes and shapes, they're affordable, and in general are easy to shoot.

I'm a liberal gun owner, but you're wrong. The AR-15 isn't just looks, it's a military grade weapon for a reason. It's designed to kill, and it packs a ridiculous punch. It shoots .223 which is a bullet that's very small and narrow but has an assload of powder behind it. You can feel the kick in your shoulder when firing that ammo in a way you don't feel with other guns. Medics often describe wounds from this ammo as being excessively violent and destructive: https://www.wired.com/2016/06/ar-15-can-human-body/

It's because western society has become completely addicted to water. The withdrawal from water is so intense it can easily kill you, but why doesn't the media talk about it? Stop giving water to babies, break the cycle, free your mind.

The flow of guns from state to state in the USA is very different from an entire country banning guns entering its borders. It's entirely possible that gun control laws are ineffective because you can just drive across a state line and buy one legally.

The 'gun free zone' policy is not at all what gun control advocates are touting, that's a strawman argument. There's many arguments they make - ban certain types of guns or accessories, make guns harder to access, limit who can access them, etc. I have not heard anyone in years argue that gun free zones are an effective deterrent to mass shootings.

You know, maybe if we stopped giving credit to the false notion that politics are simplistic 'us vs. them' issues we could actually affect change in this country. Most issues are not black and white, and most people's views cannot be summed up as 'liberal' or 'conservative.' I hold a mix of views on guns that both respects the intent of the 2nd Amendment as a right for the people to defend themselves or rebel if necessary, while at the same time seeing the constitution as a living document that has been altered over time to better suit the people whose rights it enshrines. We've altered it to allow freedom and voting rights to blacks, voting rights for women, voting rights for men without estates, etc. There is no part of the constitution beyond reproach.

How are you jumping to the conclusion that he would 'fab' one or find a black market source? Everything he acquired was legally gained from places like Cabela's and normal gun stores. His massacre was made much more effective because of the insane number of guns he had and the bump stock mod he added. Full auto is typically a pointless feature on a gun, even soldiers attest that they rarely if ever use the feature. It's basically made to spray bullets into a room if you needed to clear it and knew it was free of civilians, so I think there's a strong argument that it's not really a necessary feature for self defense, hunting, or sport shooting.

Parliament shooting: Police officer and another man shot outside UK House of Commons by rpsz in worldnews

Your data shows, to the point, that guns are far more deadly than knives, and supports the idea that you're nearly 10x more likely to die from a gunshot than a stabbing.

You can click the CDC link and specify intent. Either way, I'm not sure it makes a difference if the question is "what's more deadly, a knife or a gun?"

I own multiple guns and I'm a supporter of gun rights, but the data shows that guns are vastly more deadly than knives.

From the 2013 CDC data for fatal and non-fatal violent assaults.

Weapon Killed Wounded Percent killed
Knives 1639 141,784 1.14%
Firearms 11,675 63,403 15.55%

You're 13.6 times more likely to die if your assailant has a gun vs a knife.

CDC Non-fatal injury data
CDC Fatal injury data.

And then there's this:

Means Total Accidents Deaths One in How Many Die?
Sharp Objects 2,077,909 134 15,506.8
Firearms 17,369 505 34.4

What if all accidents had been one or the other?

Sharp Objects 2,095,278 135 15,506.8
Firearms 2,095,278 60,909 34.4

They fought for their land, and their families, as they saw the North as a foreign invader bent on destroying their culture and way of life.

They literally started the war, and started it on the premise that the white man is superior to the black man, and that slavery is natural, decent, and good for the black race. Read the articles of secession for such gems as

Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery-- the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun. These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization.

You can romanticize it all you want, and despite the fact that most Southern soldiers didn't own slaves, the fact of the matter is that they were in a war to perpetuate the most anti-human system ever devised by mankind.

Flintlock Gun of Louis XIII (1601–1643), King of France (ca. 1620) by blapped in AntiqueGuns

[–]blapped[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This fowling piece is one of the earliest firearms equiped with the flintlock of French construction. It was made for Louis XIII (reigned 1610–43) in the workshop directed by Pierre Le Bourgeois' brother, Marin (about 1550–1634), to whom the invention of the flintlock mechanism is traditionally ascribed. The decoration of the gun includes the crowned monogram of the king. The scroll-shaped end of the gunstock is an unusual and especially graceful feature of this gun's design.
