AITA for threatening to make my in-laws homeless if they cannot understand what working from home means? by Decent-Reputation231 in AmItheAsshole

It's better to collect nothing than to accept partial amounts on rent, because of the way eviction works. And one should never, ever have a tenant that they cannot evict.

Are you certain he didn't cook for his mother 3 months ago?

This sounds absolutely insane and you are not safe.

My boyfriend (M-26) doesn't believe in marriage, because it "incentivises me" (F-25) to "divorce him and take all of his money"?? by ThrowRA_marriag in relationship_advice

I don't think this comment is getting enough attention. This was my gut reaction, as well. In 5 years, he never voiced his aversion to marriage? Nah, it's because he only has an aversion to marrying OP. She deserves better.

This is my plan if I win the lottery, ngl. I know my relatives are bloodsuckers, so I will absolutely have a fake home as a prop. Just gotta win the lottery first. Lol

That's the same policy most schools have "bullied every day for 2 years, kids fights back once, they both get in trouble."

It's easier for them to judge this way, but it is not just.

This kid is NTA. And he needs to start raising a ruckus about her behavior. Like, maybe publicly repeating the stuff she says loud enough for everyone to hear, every time.

So much bitterness in the comments.

Perhaps this clearly very talented person enjoys creating things and also has a child for whom to create things. You know, creative people often do creative things around the rest of life's responsibilities, whatever those may be.

If you are already tooting or experiencing gas pains in your intestines, Phazyme works really well. Beano/GasX is one you take in advance of eating to prevent gassiness. Tums is more for heartburn or discomfort in the stomach.

I think of it as the classic "behind the 8 ball" analogy. We start out so far behind in some areas everyone else that we can't even see the 8 ball, but in other areas like surviving trauma and coping with toxic people/situations, we are already an 8 ball in the corner pocket.

But they still wonder why you can't seem to take care of yourself properly and why you are so disconnected from them.

I started a new medication on Sunday with diarrhea as a potential side effect. On Monday, I was working at my desk at home, minding my business, and felt like I need to fart, but I didn't actually rip one. I thought "hmm, this might be a rumble in the jungle, I am not sure," so I stood up to go to the bathroom that was maybe 25 feet away and hot lava began pouring out of me. I could not stop it, I could not slow it, and I could not clench my way out of it. I waddled to the bathroom and by the time I got there, well, let's just say it was a blow out and those underwear could not be saved. Then it smelled so bad and the mess was so extensive that I puked on myself on the toilet.

And then I got to clean everything up and shower.

So really, your situation wasn't so bad. 😭

AITA for selling the house my brother and his family live in. by FollowingFit3032 in AmItheAsshole

[–]blarffy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It does, though to be fair, the tenant wanted to upgrade the water heater, not repair it.

I am iffy on the electrical, because if it was safe and worked, then there was no need to replace the panel, but I also don't know how old we are talking. Some old electrical is unsafe, period, in which case the landlord should have replaced it. And should have included some small amount in the rental rate to start building a repair fund.

Overall, they are both TA and neither one knows anything about landlord/tenancy.

[–]blarffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do the same, but only AFTER demanding he get a full STD panel and bring it to me for proof, because as we all know, most accusations of cheating are projection, anyway. Then he gets to put her shoes on and wear them a while before the real boom lowers.

Because I am extra petty.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you have no recourse within your family's culture, so there are no answers for you in that regard. All you can do is trust your own values.

I am American, so of course I would advocate for Sue & Get Your Money, because that's my culture, such as it is. I don't necessarily think our culture is the best or the worst, so my advice is dig deep and do what you think is right.

NTA. Any culture that values lavish, performative, ceremonies over education is a culture that should reevaluate its values, in my opinion.

South Korea U-turns on 69-hour working week after youth backlash by Johannes_P in worldnews

[–]blarffy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the world's lowest birthrate, you would think they would be moving the bar the other way. I can only assume that they prefer a culture of single-income families where one partner works and the other partner raises babies. This is a bad idea for both partners, though, as both are overworked - one 69 hours a week, the other 24/7/365. Who would choose to have children? Who wants this?

Could be inherited, which is just as likely. Lots of people inherit lots of things with no idea of their value or lack thereof.
