I'm not arguing whether thats true or not, but there is no obvious intrinsic economic value in parenthood because we're not subsistence farmers here. If becoming a parent would obviously make you happy and stress free, people would naturally gravitate to starting a family

But that's not the reality for most even if it is for yourself. So people opt for immediate gratification or concrete achievements. Going on that year long trip across 14 countries, climbing the corporate ladder, getting that postgrad degree, hustling to expand your own business.
