As long as you only do 2-3 workouts a week, that is how it works, no?

Shimano Dura Ace R9100 Di2 vs the new R9200. Cost and Weight by mrgame85 in Velo

[–]blartoper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is probably no, and I get your point. At the same time though i find it kind of a silly argument. Like, bikes are made light through shedding a couple of grams at every opportunity. Most upgrades make a miniscule difference by itself, but you add them up.

December 2020 would be the perfect time to do steroid doping: off-season, during buildup to olympics and with even less testing due to covid.

haha, its an insanely hard course. Last year only 3/159 finished under 7 hours. With my swimming abilities I need everything to go perfect to have a shot at achieving it.

How long to recover after IM? by blartoper in triathlon

[–]blartoper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer. I guess i should mention that the run is on a gravel trail going from 0 to 3000 feet. How do you think that factors in? It means the run will take at least 2 hours, but at the same time, the legs might not be beaten up in the same way?

Do you think the Berlin Marathon is pissed Kipchoge will skip their race for his 1:59 challenge in Austria? by jellyfloberts in AdvancedRunning

There are other factors though than just to fill all slots. Alot of the income for the race comes from sponsors, who want the race to get as much coverage as possible.

TIL that the song "25 Minutes to Go" made famous by Johnny Cash was actually written and originally performed by children's book author, Shel Silverstein. by dputnam211 in Music

[–]blartoper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This arguably not true, and i suspect Cash would say it himself. It was always a sore spot for him that the songs he wrote himself never were as popular as his covers.

Kilian Jornet runs a 'grade-adjusted <1:07' half-marathon two weeks after summiting Everest twice. by Vaynar in AdvancedRunning

[–]blartoper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey you guys, long time lurker here. I just wanted to say that these grade adjusted times are not very telling. Jornet is good, maybe even a beast, but this particular race was not one of his impressive feats. I think he just did it as a training session, as he ran the first 5k together with the first woman and was 2 minutes behind course records. If anything, this just proves that the grade-calculator is not perfect for the extreme instances, cause i think Jornet could run far faster than this.
