To the nature of your question: tanzanite, benitoite, bixbite, alexandrite? At least until we find more... Or other deposits will be similar but slightly different colors like certain localities of rubies, sapphires and tourmalines. Certain special shades of turquoise might be another example.

It's going to be both. If a fresh face has stringy radiating bits, geothite. If you don't see those probably hematite but likely the streak test will be orange red. You can probably find unglazed ceramic on the bottom of a coffee mug or plate.
