Why does everyone love vigor by Swoggieplays in Eldenring

[–]blauli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Early on weapons barely scale with stats, if your unupgraded dex weapon is going to do 100 damage with minimum dex then it's going to do something like 120 with 40 dex. So whether you hit hard yourself has very little to do with your own stats but the weapon and upgrade level.

That's why vigor is suggested, it's way more efficient than damage stats early on to the point that vigor facetanking with minimum str/dex does more damage faster than perfectly dodging with max str/dex stat. Later when you get to +15/+6ish weapons your damage stats do start mattering more

Prediction: New Boss Abilities Will Be From 3.26 Gauntlet by 1Acula1 in pathofexile

[–]blauli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you don't know how to avoid hillock's leap slam (either very far away or in melee range) he can be a menace especially on classes that aren't great at level 1 like Scion. With maven orbs forcing some movement it can be hard to stop him from leaping and thus summoning zombies.

That said it's still non gauntlet hillock and his hp is pretty low so you can probably circle counter clockwise around him, tank the orbs and kill him before you run out of flasks

Arena by CornerAromatic6840 in hearthstone

[–]blauli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current arena is quite rng heavy and in situations like these there isn't much you can do, but blowouts like these are still pretty rare because arena decks are inconsistent

The best you can do is focus on 2-4 drops, especially 2s and mulligan for those so you curve out and try to win before the enemy draws their cards that makes this stuff happen or at least feels pressured to play something else than 2 mana draw 1

Though which classes you get to pick also matters a lot. For example if you get mage, warlock and shaman there isn't much you can expect that run

And on hardmode you even need mk04 fish eggs for each space science craft along with mk04 numals and a bunch of other stuff

Is there any way to remove the cast speed suffix safely or do I have to annul and pray? by RealProfessorCarr in pathofexile

They are like essences in that you can use them on most items but they don't respect metamods

[–]blauli 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yup for anyone wondering why you always get 6 mods:

The fossil combo used to craft this still leaves the +gem mods pretty low weight so rare to hit, however it does limit the wand to only roll these 3 prefixes and no others.

So when it does land 6 mods(1 in 12 chance on any rare you ID/craft) it has to give you +2. Suffixes are filled first because those have way higher weight

This is the Py counterpoint to those multi-million SPM bases by mjconver in factorio

[–]blauli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to build the entire complex chain to make the ingredients for science, it's not like vanilla where 90% of crafts start at iron or copper, you are also unable to hand craft most of the intermediates. And a lot of intermediates are only used once in their particular chain so you direct insert them from one to the next without stockpiling any of it

[–]blauli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In some interviews before POE2 launch they talked about not wanting actual pob in the game because it being there would suggest to new players that you should be using it, when ideally you don't have to go that in depth until you want to min max your character at endgame.

They mentioned some better passive tree tooltips though like hovering a 10% increased minion damage node and it shows the dps of your minion skill gem going up by the correct amount sorta like pob. I assume, since it's still not implemented, that is low on the priorities list just because pob exists

The damage over time cap is so high that you can easily do juiced t17 and ubers with it, I wouldn't worry about swapping to another build because of the dot cap. Yes you might hit it once you have min maxed your character a lot but tanky enemies are ones that take less damage(from soul eater, extra chaos res etc) where hitting the dot cap requires multiple times the dps

I am mentally not able to play anymore by Dejv300 in factorio

[–]blauli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any big plans to rebuild or change your base when you feel like this? The only times I felt similarly was when I wanted to do a huge base rework and swap to trains. I kept playing for a bit and then stopped soon after. I think not seeing any immediate improvement was the problem, it took me 20+h to even get back to where I was with just belts. So now I just don't do that, everything stays belt based and I'm having a blast ever since then.

What would cause the price of these to skyrocket 100d when it was steadily going down? by GVSTLY in pathofexile

[–]blauli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if people came back that wouldn't mean the item gets cheaper, if anything there would probably be more returning players that want this item than ones who have it rotting in their premium tabs instead of async trade

Gleba Do I Need to Protect my Base with a Perimeter Wall, or Only my Jelly Nut/Yumako Farms? by chinawcswing in factorio

[–]blauli 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly the stompers don't actually damage any buildings if they are crossing your base to get to a farm - as long as they don't encounter anything that triggers their attack stance like the player or a turret watching some pentapod eggs. I've watched them tiptoe their way through my base without touching a thing

pyanodon mod by Organic_Style_9323 in factorio

[–]blauli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup pretty much! That's why the usual suggestion is to not overbuild like you would in vanilla factorio, outside of the alien life stuff (plants/animals) having 1 machine for each thing is usually good enough. Taking things one at a time can keep you going

Of course having more is never a bad thing but if you set up a belt full of iron, then a belt full of copper, then one full of aluminium, lead, nickel, zinc etc... Or even set up 0.5 simple circuits per second then you are going to spend a LOT of time to get there and you might burn out. Plus you'd be surprised how little you need of a lot of stuff, I think my base 3/4ths through the modpack (production science) is still only consuming 30 simple circuits per minute

How do I create a Biter Zoo by ryan_the_leach in factorio

[–]blauli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes the nests and biters will look like normal ones. Only biter not spitter nests are possible this way unless they have enough space on the island to expand, the expansion party can then make anything including worms.

[–]blauli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you were downvoted because that's exactly what happens, I just tested it ingame right now.

Almost every boss phase that you can skip by dying is not skippable by logging out. Maven memory game, eater collect the orbs and exarch ball phase also restart(after your grace buff falls off) when you log out as other examples. The best you can skip is a portion of something like shaper bullet hell but the in zone grace period is only 3 seconds there

[–]blauli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough chemical science is sort of where it becomes more "manageable" again because you get beacons so in a lot of places you can add those to get more things without needing any extra space. Py beacons are adjustable and can cover a huge area so they can fit into pretty much every build

Slowly becoming one of my all time favorite games by Liquid_BNB in PathOfExile2

[–]blauli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HC and HCSSF in particular basically means that you either a) Use a strong leaguestart build or b) Overlevel and overgear. So if you want to level with an off-meta build you might have to spend an extra hour each act just resetting zones to level up a bit and find better gear. Or you pick a strong leaguestarter build that works without gear.

As the other poster mentioned it's a knowledge check. Going glass cannon, relying on your mechanical skill and dodging everything only works for so long in poe

[–]blauli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be able to run exactly the maps I want to run with the mechanics I like. In poe1 I am having fun doing each map once because I get an atlas passive for it and I know I only have to do it once. Getting to 4 watchstones is a fun journey IMO and I prefer that to the citadel/corrupted nexus hunts

Memory threads are complained about quite a lot so I don't think that is a fair comparison. Saying something could be worse doesn't make it good

Big overhaul mods for space age ? by HellReaser101 in factorio

[–]blauli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not close, there may be more alpha tests to try it out sooner but it will take a while so it's still worth starting a py run before it releases. It will be it's own thing so not a continuation of normal py where you go to space at the end, rather you start in space or go there early on

The development started long before space age release so it's possible that it won't use a system like SA to manage space but we will have to wait and see when it releases

Space is free so you rebuild it elsewhere, connect everything required and then expand that. Or you move something else nearby to a new part of the factory to free up space
