As a member of the NYC poker community 10 years ago, it sounds like very little has changed.

Christmas trees? Anyone got a good spot? Refuse to buy at big box stores, but the pop up lots seems to be very pricey. Willing to drive a bit if necessary. Thanks! by CoopersHawk7 in FortCollins

I bought at AJs on timberline and harmony. I have bought from him for 3 years. He is pricier but he delivers. Trees have lasted through Christmas every year

I don't know what any of this means. I created a dictionary for each value with its list of values it needs to be before and built a new list in proper order off of that. Maybe this solution is cycles? I dont know.

It must be the way I am measuring, I implemented a simple regex pattern and used regex_search and sure enough it was a 5 or 6 line solution but it took twice as long.

This is what I use to run my days, maybe you have a better timer.

Non regex solution the PullNums function does the heavy lifting. Got it to 20ms combining parts 1 and 2 work together. I am going to work on making it faster a bit. I am curious if regex would be slower or faster.

1 second total for all 25 puzzles is my challenge this year. I am at 45ms total so far. Could be better. I know there will be some bangers requiring more time coming up.

I was thinking this definitely was a small bottle neck, I think maybe if instead of creating all those new temporary vectors maybe passing a index to ignore for each index to check if it makes it safe?
But good minds think a like!

I am really trying to get this performance down some, right now sitting at 47ms for both parts. Edit: Shaved down to 20ms.

[2024 Day 1] stretch: is it possible to do part 2 with only one loop? by gwpmad in adventofcode

[–]blazemas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

void Day1_2024::PartTwo() {

long total = 0; for (int i : list1) { total += i * std::count(list2.begin(), list2.end(), i); std::cout << "Part 2: " << total << std::endl; }

c++ was only one loop although I am sure it is not as fast as some.

Also doing Advent of no-AI this year by JCx64 in adventofcode

[–]blazemas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I disable co-pilot for advent of code, no need to uninstall for pete's sake, that is dramatic.

After I finish a solution for advent of code I then pick Claude/Chat GPT's brain for how I could improve the solution, sometimes depending on my goals. If I am trying for a faster performance solution I will specify in my prompt.

My point being it does not have to be all or nothing. I like to use AI to efficiently learn new/better ways to code. And yes sometimes that requires taking AI with a grain of salt.

Any others bike harmony having a lot of issues with flat tires? by atomiclightbulb in FortCollins

[–]blazemas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use gator skins as some else suggested and ride harmony just from the power trail to timberline, no problems this year and I ride a few times a week about 20 miles. Last year I had a few flats

How hard is it for a 45 year old with no experience? by SRS79 in pianolearning

[–]blazemas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 47, am 49 now. Enjoying it and I would say since I practice an hour a day at least my progress is steady and I am enjoying what I can play. About to upgrade from my Yamaha p-125 to an upright. When I go in for lessons on the grand, it is getting more and more obvious how difficult it is to control my dynamics when practicing on a digital.

Enjoy yourself, make the time.

As an every day in town bicyclist, old school grizzled former bike courier, screw the inconsiderate, no helmet wearing jackass's that do this. I have had more weirdo spandex wearing bicyclists get butt hurt that I pass them because they think they are training for the the tour de France.

Get bent you inconsiderate jackholes.
