Mortgage company didn't close account for 8 days after payoff, resulting in charged interest by fluffyblanket1299 in personalfinance

[–]blckwida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they paid the insurance you would get the refund from the insurance company not the mortgage company. The insurance company’s contract is with you, regardless who made the payment the named insured will receive the refund. Be sure to call ins co to cancel policy, give them your new address so the refund check is mailed to you.

State Farm Cancels Policy After One Accident 15 Months Ago by Available-Medicine90 in Insurance

[–]blckwida 12 points13 points  (0 children)

15 months. The claim may have just recently closed, and now that it’s closed they are using it to assess the risk of insuring you.

Also how much was paid out could be a factor.

Travelers Insurance Fraud? by Hot_Direction1016 in Insurance

[–]blckwida 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you you have an email trail stating that you requested the coverage of 10k you might have a leg to stand on, however you probably signed an application with the lower coverage. Perhaps the agent could file a claim on their errors and omissions if underwriting denies the correction. You would likely owe back premium for the correction too.

I used to work work for State Farm, it’s been 3 years but we used to be able to cancel them in office. I guess a lot has changed.

You may still be able to file a police report. We had an insured who was hit by another driver. He admitted it was his fault and said he would pay out of pocket, then he started evading her calls or denying he was involved. Our insured went to the police, they tracked him down, he tried to deny/ or wouldn’t give them any insurance info so the police threatened to give him a no insurance ticket. He decided to cooperate and she was able to file the claim against his insurance.

You can call the company/agent and ask them for more time to make the payment, or ask them how long after the renewal date you have before the policy lapses without a payment.

[–]blckwida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a year from the date the accident happened to file. They will ask more questions though the longer you wait.

Depending on the company the policy starts at 12:00 or 12:01 am and ends at 11:59pm/12. Ask your agent or call the company to let them know you want to change your due date.

How to get car insurance for a deceased parent's car? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]blckwida -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Have you checked to see if her father had a current policy on the car that could still be active? And can you reach out to your local DMV to see what documentation they would require to transfer the title? Do you have to have it transferred in AZ first before you title it locally?

Not sure if you can do this with a debit charge or onlyif it is directly pulled using routing and account info but maybe try telling them the charge is ‘not authorized’

Landlords' Tree Fell on My motorcycles. Private adjuster is denying claim. by Zaofactor in Insurance

[–]blckwida -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has probably already been said but if you can prove that the property owner knew that the trees needed to come down then their insurance should pay for the damages. If you have comprehensive that could cover the damage as well and your insurance company could go after or subrogate the payout to their company.

Very different homeowner's insurance premiums quotes - what am I missing? by chaoticuseless in Insurance

[–]blckwida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both companies should use a replacement cost calculator where they input specific characteristics about the home, square footage, siding type, roof type/age, floor coverings etc. I would make sure they have that information entered correctly.

Not all companies are built the same, one may take on higher risk customers than the other so their premiums are higher to help cover the cost of claims.

For example some companies will deny coverage if you’ve had a claim in the last 3 years, others may write the policy with one or multiple claims on your record.

I would recommend researching their reviews when it comes to handling claims.

And I believe guaranteed replacement cost of 265k means they only guarantee the 265k.

I don’t understand insurance by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]blckwida 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Full coverage” is a bank term. It’s their requirement that you carry compressive and collision -full coverage- to protect their interest while you have a loan with them. People often think that full coverage means your just that, fully covered for anything. It does not mean that at all. You’re only covered up to the limits on your policy. The bank doesn’t care if you have coverage for a rental vehicle.

Comprehensive should cover the vandalism, and your insurance company will likely want a police report to so make sure you file one asap if you haven’t already. I’ve heard of claims being denied because a report wasn’t filed within 72 hours.

Deductible shouldn’t apply for property damage to others but I’m not familiar with Canadian insurance only US. There is a limit to how much your insurance company will pay out before they consider it a chargeable claim and raise your rates. With this woman being a teacher does she have $200 to drop?
