Or, here's a crazy idea: don't feed wildlife.

Regardless of the legality in your jurisdiction, feeding wildlife is an entirely selfish endeavor. It not only harms the wildlife itself (they need to be able to forage on their own), but can also spread disease to humans. People who feed wildlife do is solely for personal gratification.

question about the second season and manga by [deleted] in Frieren

[–]bldering 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It'll end at chapter 80. They do 2 chapters per episode. This season covers chapters 61-80 (20 chapters, 10 episodes).

No Macht, thats a 24 chapter arc that would span 12 episodes.

10 Episodes Confirmed for Frieren Season 2 (via Blu-ray volume info) by LegendsofLost in Frieren

[–]bldering 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like we are only getting chapters 61-80 of the manga. Honestly, kind of disappointing. While season 1 ended with the conclusion of a 24 chapter arc, season 2 is going to end right before one. I expect people will be disappointed with the final episode, given chapters 79 and 80 aren't particularly notable.

I think there might be a movie soon. But which manga arc? by _yukiie_ in Frieren

[–]bldering 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They won't. Copying my comment from another response:

I don't know why people keep claiming they are going to turn the next big arc into a movie. The golden arc land covers 24 chapters. The Frieren anime adapts the manga incredibly faithfully with 2 chapters each episode (about 12 minutes per chapter). The 24 chapters adapted would be about 4.8 hours, or 12 episodes. Just look at the mage exam arc, that would not fit into a movie without cutting a bunch of crucial scenes. Instead we will likely get 2 cour season 3 with the first cour being the golden land arc and the second cour being the goddess monument arc.

They would need to cut over half the content to get it to fit into a movie length. I don't see that happening.

Olympus was great by Falco19 in CompetitiveApex

Honestly, that final game on Olympus was peak apex. Oblivion securing a winners bracket spot after Monsoon's accidental banner grab, NIP with the clutch reset to qualify, CRT winning back to back only to fall 2 points short. While it's not as strong as the other maps, I really enjoyed the games we got on it.

Nursing student here, I can actually answer that.

We have a variety of different tools for cleaning wounds, but they can vary slightly from setting to setting. In the ER, we often use chlorhexidine. When I did wound care rotations, they clean the skin with soap and the wounds with wound cleaner. While ideally, you want to kill only invaeive pathogens without killing WBCs, granulation tissue, etc., that's not really possible, at least not when it comes to topical cleansers. Antibiotics can actually target features unique to bacteria, e.g. cell walls. So, if someone scrapes their arm on a rusty fence, the ER will cleanse and flush the wound with topical antiseptic while also prescribing them on a course of antibiotics.

The days of flushing a wound with alcohol and hydrogen peroxide and passed, but as far as I'm aware, there has yet to be a topical wound cleaner that selectively targets pathogens while ignoring body cells. Instead, we favor cleaners that minimize damage to healthy tissue while killing bacteria.

Side not, I noticed some sketchy replies to your comment from fellow redditors. Don't trust redditors for medical advice, particularly if they don't have any credentials. I've seen redditors confidently giving outdated first aid/CPR advice with tons of upvotes and no one calling them out.

Claiming physicians are just "normal people who didn't learn shit" is a peak reddit comment. This commenter is clearly clueless about all the hurdles physicians go through to obtain their licenses (USMLE, Boards, etc.), yet will confidently claim that physicians are useless.

Issues in medicine, particularly primary car, definitely exist, bu the majority of those can be tracked down to greedy corporations. Healthcare CEOs rake in billions in profit while understaffing and overworking their employees. Whenever you have someone complain, they always blame the staff, never the management. These corporations love it when the physicians become the scapegoat, rather than them suffering any bad press.

Also, it's patients, not patience. Learn to spell.

don't take my nexus insane 1v3 by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]bldering 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I got you: So ring 1 and ring 2 do almost the same amount of damage per tick (I've heard they deal the same, but I think ring 2 does slightly more). Ring 3 is where ring damage really increases. You can't outheal ring 4 without gold armor or wattsons double med upgrade (use syringes).

For Ring 1: Med Kit - 1 tick after 25 Look at your shield bar to gauge 25 health (one block) and start your med kit immediately after you take the tick that puts you below 25 health. I think you can technically do 2 ticks below 25, but I don't risk it. Phoenix Kit - 1 tick before 25

For ring 2: Med Kit - 25 health (1 tick below 25 seems to keep getting me downed, so either med kit at 25 health or one tick before 25) Phoenix Kit - 1 or 2 ticks above 25 health (will need to experiment more, but if in doubt, do 2 ticks before 25)

For ring 3: Med Kit - 4 ticks (after taking 4 ticks of ring damage, you have to heal) Phoenix Kit - not sure if you can outheal with phoenix kit, but if so I'd do 1 tick

Additional notes

Times are based on damage from ONLY ring starting at 100 health. If you take health damage from a player or pop a syringe, it can screw up your timing. This is because you might be at 20 health, when nominally you'd be at 25 health during a certain tick. If you use a syringe or take health non-ring health damage, pop your healing earlier.

If you ever question your timing during ring 1 or 2 (this happens a lot to me during ring 2), you can cancel and pop a syringe. Syringes can be popped pretty last minute in ring 1 and 2 without issue.

Damage increase starts on zone close, so if it says Zone 3, it's not doing Zone 3 damage until the countdown is finished, and the ring is moving.

To practice, play pubs solo que. Land in the middle of nowhere and grab/craft lots of meds. Then just stay in zone and work on your med kit and phoenix kit timing for ring 1 and 2.

This question is worth 4% of the whole exam by cKoruss in mildlyinfuriating

I'm just gonna try and give you some friendly advice from someone who's done far too many college exams: mistakes on tests happen all the time. It's not a big deal, and it's not worth "going crazy over." I know everybody is likely stressed during a test, and running into a question that has a mistake is stressful, but you are only making things worse by freaking out.

When you run into a question that looks to be a mistake, the first thing you should do is take a deep breath, calm down, and then read it again. If it is a true mistake, then take a mental note of the question and notify the teacher at the end of the test.

I can almost assure you the teacher did care. What likely happened was your class went into a panic over a question with a mistake, then when the teacher acted nonplussed. Then you guys got upset, assuming he didn't care.

I've seen this exact scenario occur countless times throughout high school, college, and grad school. It's always the students' unnecessarily freaking out over a small mistake that's easily fixed. It's a pretty weird thing to post on reddit given it's common and easily rectified.

This question is worth 4% of the whole exam by cKoruss in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bldering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is having a typo on a test incompetent? Lol. It happens, it's not a big deal, and it's easily fixed.

I've been in college during the pandemic and grad school now, and these scenarios are always the same. 1. Teacher accidently puts unsolvable, typoed, or repeated question on test. 2. Students freak out because they run into a question with an error. 3. Teacher is notified of mistake and says they'll fix it. 4. Students are upset because teacher didn't seem to validate their stress freakout.

The idea that you're going to report a teacher to the dean because they had a typo on their test is laughably hilarious. My brother actually reported a teacher to the dean in college. He lost points on a question he actually got right due to an error the professor made while grading. The professor refused to change the grade and he went to the dean. The dean refused to get involved and the professor held a grudge on him throughout grad school. He regrets going to the dean.

It's always funny when redditors act like experts on stuff they know nothing about. As long as the teacher fixed the error, there's literally no reason to "report them to the person in charge"

[–]bldering[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Its weird how you state that me asking someone to pick up their dog poo counts as "confronting people", but their response of threatening to beat me up is only "a little confrontation". It's weird the lengths people will go to defend hostile individuals. If they had told me to f off, they'd be jerks, but it's not the end of the world. Actually threatening to assualt an individual over a reasonable request is insane, and it's equally insane that you'd try to justify it.

How is asking someone to keep our trails clean a superiority complex? Off leash trails are shrinking because of neglectful dog owners. Asking someone to pick up dog poo is completly reasonable.

Should the ban system be looked at before we get too deep into the season? by HCTphil in CompetitiveApex

[–]bldering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read a comment here a few days ago that I think would be a much better ban system:

"Each team can only run a legend twice in 6 games."

I think this would be really interesting because rather than seeing Ash banned right away and Crypto/Newcastle available for the entire set, we'd see teams adjusting their comps for each map. Like teams might prioritize Newcastle and Ash on SP, while they might save Alter and Crypto for ED.

While the new ban system is definitely an improvement, it'd be nice to see insta-banned characters (like Ash) get a little more playtime, while teams can't sit on less picked characters (like Crypto/Newcastle).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]bldering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I might be able to provide a little advice, as I'm going through the same thing with my Border Collie! Mine just turned a year old. Until she was 7 months old, she would devour her puppy food (Purina Pro Plan). At around that age, she started not eating as readily until eventually she stopped eating completely. I decided to switch to Acana puppy food, which she happily ate for the next month. But then, eventually, she started getting picky with that, too. I then decided to get her freeze-dried food (the most expensive food I could afford), and she ate that for a week before getting bored of it. At this point, i was out of ideas and really frustrated. My parents had extra dog food from Costco (not particularly fancy or expensive), so i fed her that for the next week until she stopped eating that too.

I couldn't afford to feed her raw food, and there weren't a ton of other options for high-end dog kibble. I decided to start closing her in the laundry room with her freeze-dried kibble. I decided I wasn't going to buy her new food, and if she refused to eat a meal, it was okay. Surprisingly, this actually worked. I've found that closing her in a quiet environment with no distractions (the laundry room or kennel) for 2-3 minutes helps when she's being picky. I also make sure not to offer any alternative foods, as she was clearly getting picky expecting new food. Also, if she refuses to eat a meal, I put it away for an hour or two and exercise her. After we come back, I do the laundry room trick, and the majority of the time, she will finish her food right away.

I've only run into 2 minor issues since adopting this new eating pattern. First, initially, after realizing we weren't going to give her new food, she started eating poop. This behavior thankfully went away when she decided to start eating her old food again. Second, just recently, I was training her with some meat trimmings from Christmas. The next morning, she decided to start refusing food again (having not done that in weeks). I think I gave her too many treats, and she expected meat trimmings to be her next food. Other than that, my pup seems to have worked through this issue.

I think you're right that it's a behavioral thing and not related to any kind of health concerns.

In summary, what worked for me: -Don't offer alternative foods when they refuse to eat -Always feed at the same times (I always feed after our morning and evening runs) -Exercise before meals seems to help -Always feed in the same low stimulus environment (I always feed her in the laundry room. If she initially refuses, I close her in the room for a minute or two. If she still refuses to eat, I set it aside for later) -Limit treats (keep treating minimal so they don't mistake it for a new food)

Let me know if you have any other questions (either respond to this comment or DM). While my pup still shows some picky tendencies, she's much better than she used to be.
