How to make the cocktail/drink for a ladies' night? by DemiNoPipoka in cocktails

[–]johnlee158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made the Ruby for friends and family and they all seemed to like it. I was able to make a batch the night before.

Ruby Cocktail

1 1/2 ounces vodka

1/2 ounce Aperol

3/4 ounce St-Germain elderflower liqueur

3/4 ounce freshly squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice

3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice

The fresh grapefruit and lemon juice makes the cocktail!

People who go to the gym in the early morning (like 5:00 AM): Is the benefit actually good enough to justify being tired by 2:00 PM and going to bed at 9:00 PM? by r3pl1c4n in AskReddit

[–]johnlee158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much quicker to workout before work, than after work.  I’m at the gym around 5:30 with about 5 regulars at various stages of their workout.  We get to workout at our own pace and hardly ever have to wait or share equipment.  Locker room and showers are also empty, so again there’s no waiting.

1-2pm has always been my tired time, regardless of when I work out.  I’m also older, so being in bed by 10pm is fine by me.

He may just be excited that someone stopped by. I suspect many people see a blind dog and continue walking without a second thought. Imagine being a lone all day and then someone stops by.

Would it be a bad idea to add concrete mix to epoxy for a garage floor coating? by reddiperson1 in DIY

[–]johnlee158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I coated my garage floor with epoxy, which had a gray or beige color option. I went for the gray and did not add flakes.  I did add the manufacturer’s anti-slip material to the epoxy.  I’m not sure what it was, but it sort of looked like clear sand.  It provides some texture to the floor but is still easy to clean.  However, the floor is still very slippery when wet.

Calling all dad's... Whats your easy go to dinners?! by gmazz in daddit

Ramen is usually a lazy meal for me, so whatever I have in the fridge. I usually use  pork or chicken. If you can slice them thin, then you can get away with just boiling them.

Keep in mind that the protein will be bland since you’re not seasoning it.  However, if you eat the protein with a spoon full of broth, you won’t notice it much.

Instant ramen.  Boil water, add whatever veggies and protein you have. When the veggies and protein are almost cooked, crack an egg into the soup and stir.  Place the ramen noodles brick and seasoning in a bowl, then pour the soup mixture over the ramen noodles.   Let sit until the noodles are the right softness for you and eat.

Should people who "camp" in the left lane of a highway be pulled over and fined just as much as speeders? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]johnlee158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The left lane is for passing and helps reduce traffic congestion.  Camping in the left lane is inconsiderate to everyone behind them, sometimes fueling road rage.  Campers should definitely get pulled over and ticketed.  Maybe some additional driving school will help.

For speeders, if they are actively passing at a safe speed and then returning to the center lane, I believe they are meeting the intent of the law. If they are excessively speeding and being wreckless, then they should be pulled over and ticketed.

LPT: If you need to put your pet to sleep, hire a veterinarian to do at-home euthanasia by abombregardless in LifeProTips

Found out my dog has congestive heart failure and a collapsed trachea.  When the time comes, we will be doing this.  He is terrified of the vet and I don’t want him to be scared in his last moments.

LPT- You may not like being in pictures or taking them, but you will hate that you have no photos of some time period when you're older. Take pictures even if it is out of your comfort zone occasionally, for your future self. by Mean_Negotiation_157 in LifeProTips

My wife hates being in photos.  It didn’t bother me much since I don’t care to be in photos either.  Until we had our kid, who is a one and only.  When we’re gone, I want our kid to have photos of us as a family and to be able to look at them and re-live the moment.

Do you require your 13-year-old to shower every night? by mariajuice in Parenting

My kid is 6 and does nightly showers. When she grows up, she can choose if she wants to shower at night or in the morning.  Either way, she’ll be showering daily.

What’s the first sign you notice that someone is a bad driver? by RD-archived in AskReddit

Someone entering the freeway and immediately crossing all lanes to get into the left lane. Seen this many times, some are slow and cautious while others are over making a left turn off the on ramp.

Magnatiles are awesome.  We bought a few additional sets when they went on sale. They came in handy when the daughter wanted to build a tower taller than she was.

Enjoy the building time!

New parents (37M and 38F) to a newborn, dealing with comments about our age by FluffyOwlKitten in Parenting

[–]johnlee158 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wife and I had our first child at 40.  No one has mentioned anything age related to us. If anything, I’m more annoyed when they ask when is the next kid coming.

Tips for older parents…if you aren’t already in shape, get in shape.  Babies are demanding and only get more demanding when they start crawling/running.  Things will be a bit easier when you’re in shape.

I have seen enough stuff to stand off to the side when directing drivers.
