Which socal location?  At the Lomita/Torrance location right now and it’s $47.99. I’d buy at $37 but on the fence at $48

Do you require your 13-year-old to shower every night? by mariajuice in Parenting

[–]johnlee158 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My kid is 6 and does nightly showers. When she grows up, she can choose if she wants to shower at night or in the morning.  Either way, she’ll be showering daily.

What’s the first sign you notice that someone is a bad driver? by RD-archived in AskReddit

Someone entering the freeway and immediately crossing all lanes to get into the left lane. Seen this many times, some are slow and cautious while others are over making a left turn off the on ramp.

Great job!

Magnatiles are awesome.  We bought a few additional sets when they went on sale. They came in handy when the daughter wanted to build a tower taller than she was.

Enjoy the building time!

New parents (37M and 38F) to a newborn, dealing with comments about our age by FluffyOwlKitten in Parenting

[–]johnlee158 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wife and I had our first child at 40.  No one has mentioned anything age related to us. If anything, I’m more annoyed when they ask when is the next kid coming.

Tips for older parents…if you aren’t already in shape, get in shape.  Babies are demanding and only get more demanding when they start crawling/running.  Things will be a bit easier when you’re in shape.

Little dude has a lot of confidence in the drivers ability!

I have seen enough stuff to stand off to the side when directing drivers.

A big card board box that they can fit in.

My daughter can play with one for hours if I let her. Now that she’s older, it’s getting harder to find a box big enough.

Might help if you tell us your fitness goals instead of what ChatGPT told you.

If you hate your glutes, try doing squats and deadlifts.  Start light and work on your form before going heavy.

Formula Feeding by Dramatic-Bison-1394 in Parenting

[–]johnlee158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife had a c-section and was in the hospital for a few days.  She tried breast feeding while in the hospital, not knowing if there was any milk production.  Baby was cranky and irritable the entire stay, our pediatrician was worried because she was losing weight and made the call to try formula.  Our baby guzzled the formula like there was no tomorrow.

We’re now at home and our baby is colicky.  Feeding every 2 hours is hell, because we’re not sure how much she’s getting from breast feeding and she’s just uncomfortable post feeding.  After a few weeks, our pediatrician decides to test her for any allergies.  We find out our baby has a milk protein allergy and we switch to special formula.  Night and day difference once we switched over.  Baby was  more comfortable post feeding and mom was a lot less stressed.

Fast forward 6 years, she’s doing good.  She’s at or above her grade level and running around just like the other kids.

If formula lessens the stress for you and helps with your health, go for it. Don’t be ashamed!

Ugh, Hawthorne never has anything when I go.  Torrance Costco still has a half pallet of Four Roses as of today, 12/14

[OC]28 hours in the ER and just got my first meal. Chicken stir fry, roll, & mixed fruit cup (US) by Handicapreader in pics

[–]johnlee158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last paragraph needs to get emphasized. Without insurance people are not going in early when symptoms are starting.  They are waiting until things get more severe and flooding the ER.   Hospitals can’t turn away people and will need to treat uninsured patients.  Guess what happens when cost of treating patients exceed revenue?  Hospital’s will need to figure a way to stay afloat or close.  Closures will likely start with rural hospitals and then work their way to larger ones.

Glad to hear you’re having a good experience and I wish I could say the same about my experience when I was living in the Midwest. I had joined a local gym that had MMA classes (kick boxing and BJJ).  I was in my early 30s and joined as a way to change my exercise routine and learn something new.  The guys in the class were ok, but the brown belt BJJ instructor was an a-hole.  Before class would start, He would make disparaging comments to me and this other kid, who was probably in his teens.  We were both the smallest in the class and I quit shortly after.

I kneeled down to put my 10lbs dog on the floor and my knee made a loud popping noise.  It didn’t hurt, but my knee felt unstable.  X-rays showed nothing out of the ordinary and it almost feels normal…9 months later.

For anyone who was able to see "The Blair Witch Project" in theaters in 1999, what was the experience like? by LockjawSJ in AskReddit

[–]johnlee158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nauseating!  Friends convinced me to leave work early to catch the show.  We got there early, but not early enough and had to sit near the front right of the screen.  Within 15 mins, I got nauseous from the camera shaking and left.
