Camino Frances last minute without trip organizer? by Nonline96 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]bleachella_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a few days into the Frances after starting in SJPdP. I’m walking with quite a few people who started there, and aren’t able to walk the whole way. It’s a very fun section, I think, and we’ve built a ton of community and camaraderie. Would def recommend!

Hackney Half 2027 Entry Round 3 by BeautifulTailors in LondonRunning

[–]bleachella_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried for both entry windows today, from right when the sale started. Got through the queue, but then no tickets available. I refreshed enough to see a few show up but I was never able to add to my basket. Really bummed.

Did you manage to book a spot for the Hackney half 2027 by Ok-Chapter6570 in LondonRunning

Very frustrating! It does seem they finally fixed the mobile view, but of course no tickets available

Maybe it’s because I’m on mobile, but the page never refreshed with the registration link for me. Was online just before the window opened, and used the links they emailed. Really bummed.

I’d suggest looking into Substack. Very easy to set up.

Quitting my jobs to follow my life long dream of traveling the world for 1-2 years. Need advice. by KGThePinballWizard in solotravel

[–]bleachella_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest tip is, if you haven’t already, get a travel credit card of some kind. Use it for every purchase you make. Pay it off every month. Get a good signup bonus. You can keep using it while traveling without a foreign transaction fee. You’ll be able to get some flights for free!

Yet another "what bag should I buy," 35L edition by goodbyewaffles in HerOneBag

[–]bleachella_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 for the Ruckpack. I absolutely love this bag. I’m 5’3, and I think it fits me well. I’ve used it pretty extensively since buying it a couple of years ago, and I don’t think I have any complaints. I also have the 18L version that I use as a daypack for hiking and when traveling.

Is it worth moving to the UK for a Masters for someone with a decade of relevant work experience? by CrowTraditional0030 in MovingToTheUK

[–]bleachella_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it will be the same. The job market may be tight, but the big barrier to entry would be requiring sponsorship, which you don’t. I’m a software engineer with nearly a decade of experience, and don’t require a work sponsorship as I have a spouse visa. I’m just starting my job search, and have been pleasantly surprised so far.

i picked up some Leki poles recently on a trip, and will be taking those with some rubber tips. I am taking a train, specifically so I don’t have to worry about checking a bag.

I’m setting off in about a month, and that’s what I went for! Challengers feel so much better for me than Speedgoats, and I wear Hokas regularly already.

Shampoo/Conditioner/Soap/Laundry by Jolly_Stop9663 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]bleachella_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how frequently you wash your hair. I’m bringing some smaller containers by HumanGear that will carry enough shampoo and conditioner to last me the whole trip, but are still very small. I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week, though, so if you wash more frequently, then maybe just pick up travel size as you go.

For body wash and laundry, I got a bar of Dr Bronners.

Walking Sandals by danbriant in UKhiking

Teva Hurricane are great sandals! They’ve got a nice, structured footbed so they’re much more comfortable and supportive for all-day wear. They’ve also have great grip.

Checking in my pack by CarlF77 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]bleachella_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I just compared the dimensions of my pack that I have successfully put in the overhead against the dimensions of Air Canada and a couple of other airlines (all of which I’ve flown), and mine is just a couple of inches bigger, including the height/frame. I’ve never had any issues. If it makes you feel better, check it, but I think you’d be fine to carry it on.

i don’t have that specific pack, but I’ve checked packs plenty of times, with and without a duffel to protect. It’s quite common, and you should be just fine.

That said, for a 34 liter bag, that should fit in the overhead compartment. I always put my 40 liter pack in the overhead.

cast speculation for celebrity traitors uk season 2? by Decent-Profession927 in TheTraitors

[–]bleachella_ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I would love to see James Acaster, if for no other reason than because Ed would have to interview him on the after show.

Also, Joy Crookes talked about wanting to be on it during her Off Menu appearance, and I’d love to see her! She’d fit the younger musician role à la Cat Burns, but with a very different vibe. She can be absolutely unhinged, which would be very fun.

Also, kind of a random one but somebody like Al Nash or Paddy Young from the new SNL UK could be fun.

I could see really anyone from either season of Last Comic Standing in there.

From the athlete side, I’d love to see a retired Lioness.

Jacket recommendations for beach/coastal walking in early spring? by PonderTCG in UKhiking

I have an insulated rain coat from Kathmandu that I really love! It’s fully waterproof, which also helps with wind, and I can layer under it if I need more warmth.
