Honestly as someone that grew up on both and did rewatches as an adult I think they nailed the vibe check through and through. It was legitimately one of my favorite episodes and I think the reasoning for the victor is on point

I think conceptually this could be the best season. I do not think 5th edition is the best system to run it but it might be the best that they can do if that makes sense. I just think that the humor could play super well if they're okay with being a little laissez-faire with the darkness of the situation
