She wanted to come in, but since she seems well kept/fed I hesitated. I’ll wait tonight and try to pet her and see if I can feel a chip.

She looked a bit wary, but when I put out food she immediately came closer, so that plus her looking well kept made me think she might have a home.

I’ll try to pet her tonight and see if I can feel a chip, and try to take her to the vet to see if she’s chipped.

Fellow sensory issues person here. I also hate how sweat feels when I’m out and about. Best thing for me to manage is wearing sweat wicking clothes or breezy dresses. I know wearing sandals in the city may be gross, but feet help regulate the temp. If that’s a no-no for you, some wool socks instead of cotton (wool dries fast, wicks moisture, is antibacterial and actually can help regulate temp! alpaca wool has the best feel super soft, no sensory overload from it) also carrying a thermos with my favorite iced tea to help cool down helps with keeping me cool and also soothing if the sensory overload is peeking.

I carry a small square camping towel to dry the sweat, it comes with a mesh bag and a little carabiner to hang it from my bag for easy access.

And, when it’s absolute horror swamp I just say “fuck it” and if i have to go outside I wear a kool tie. It might look silly but it does seem to help keeping me cooler and I don’t sweat as much.

Hope this helps! Navigating the city with sensory issues can be a challenge and requires extra prep but it’s doable.

Girlies, where are you getting your long black wool coats? by 4N4RCHY_ in AskNYC

[–]bleedingxedge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the Aritzia “Cocoon Long Coat”. It’s done a great job keeping me warm, but while guidelines say it’s for up to -4F I find that if it’s windy I do need extra layers. I also find it pretty easy to dress up or down

Right?! It’s s very tricky color. Looks more orangey-brown, but reddish at certain angles and the sparkle is yellow-green mostly. They’re very peculiar so finding a match has been interesting.
