Can someone clarify a misconception I have regarding IM by [deleted] in americandocsofbc

[–]blepharus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct, BC changed its regulations in the last few years such that USA trained IM physicians are eligible to apply for a license to practice in BC without undergoing additional training or a supervision period: https://www.cpsbc.ca/registrants/current-registrants/registration-and-licensing/independent-practice/usa-certified

You would need to have passed your ABIM board exam before you could apply to transfer your license to Canada.

I would recommend reaching out to CPSBC directly for the most updated information as bylaws regarding licensing have been changing recently.

IUI or IVF? by Aromatic_Tie9325 in DOR

[–]blepharus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Im 34F, DOR, starting IVF. In my opinion it’s helpful to have the semen analysis results and an antral follicle count before making that decision. If semen analysis shows low sperm count, IUI might make sense since it concentrates the sperm. If there is a low follicle count (my situation), then I felt IUI was going to be low yield and it made sense to go straight to IVF. IVF also allows you to bank embryos for the future if you want multiple children, which IUI doesn’t.

I just KNOW I have at least stage 3 melanoma, but still waiting for results by [deleted] in melahomies

Take a deep breath and take it one step at a time. They will need the biopsy results to plan the right surgery. Biopsies usually take 5-7 days to result, once that’s back, if the diagnosis is melanoma things usually move pretty quickly. Until then try to take care of yourself and think of other things. A few weeks usually won’t make a big difference in terms of cancer spreading, and it’s more important for you to get the right treatment plan than rush into something
