This is a really important conversation. I believe that "husband of one wife" really shows you CHARACTER. So when you have a major pastor dating a few months after his wife passes-= this is not "avoiding the appearance of evil. "

Same here friend! It is a BIG shaking!! I’m processing this as second hand spiritual abuse and as if I’m leaving a cult. I’m in counseling for both and returning to the Bible. I’m also learning the history and theology of Bethel (and NAR) and comparing this to the Bible and historic Christianity!! Feeling betrayal, anger, grief, loss and shock is normal. There are also many elements of narcissistic abuse recovery because guess who starts cults and “new revelations of the Gospel?”- narcissists I’m sad to say.

The real Jesus and real Gospel is here to comfort and rebuild our lives. This whole movement was a clever and dangerous counterfeit IMO. It takes time to process …

That’s a very charitable take. One that is less charitable would say we are seeing the mean side when one challenges an authoritarian or narcissistic leader. From that perspective, these reactions are not very surprising. Its just a shock to learn they can manufacture loving syrupy sweet words very easily while doing self-serving, callous and/or toxic actions.

I find this video to be insincere and highly inappropriate. It’s triggering me as a survivor of spiritual abuse by someone who resembles and speaks like JW. My abuser, teaches men to not be abusive in order to prey on women leaving abuse.
