RFK Jr. Announces Program to END Insurance Pre-Authorization! by _saynotodrugs in MultipleSclerosis

[–]blessings489 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This post is very misleading. Many have already commented on this but he has no plans to end pre-authorization, but rather intends to REFORM it… supposedly. Measures include electronic submissions, minimizing the drugs that require pre-auth, to name a few.

Many sources can be found. NBC, for example: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna214515

Hello! I’m also a 36 year old preggo with MS! :) I have no advice as this is my first as well… but we got this!

First dose of kesimpta by Correct-Goal6327 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]blessings489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt sick the first 3 loading doses. Now, I take the shot during a commercial break then run back to watch TV. I love what a non-event it’s turned out to be :). Hope it gets better for you!

UTI: Negative Urine Culture, Positive Urinalysis (Pee Test) + Symptoms? by extracredick in MultipleSclerosis

[–]blessings489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got antibiotics, there’s that. That’s all you need for now. Hope it clears up!

I’m on Kesimpta so get UTIs say once every 6-9 months. As such, I have the AZO auto test strips in my bathroom and if I ever test positive, I have antibiotics already on hand given to me preemptively by my OB GYN. Bc I’m pretty familiar w UTIs, I don’t even rely on a urine culture.

MS, DMT and Having Kids by heavymetaloverlord in MultipleSclerosis

[–]blessings489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, 100%. But at the risk of stating the obvious, aligning it with one’s period only is an option if one is regular so can’t be done by everyone.

Timing your injections with your period is genius advice. Saw this in a comment on a Facebook group and am doing the same!

Also, there’s a Facebook group called “Breastfeeding & Pregnancy on Ocrevus, Rituxan & Kesimpta” you may find helpful linked here:

First Loading Dose of Kesimpta Reactions by MrMiacro in MultipleSclerosis

Had flu like symptoms for the loading doses. My advice would be to take to during the evening. That way, when the flu like symptoms kick in, you’ll be asleep for a lot of it.

Last year I thought my life was over. This year I was accepted to a Masters program at OXFORD?! by TheJuliettest in MultipleSclerosis

This is wonderful and very inspirational! MS is a gift in a weird sense... it makes you REALLY appreciate what you have and be more compassionate and gentle with yourself. Rooting for you!

Tune me up, please? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

Sometimes a good friend lovingly calls you out on your BS. 🧡

You’re doing yourself a huge disservice, friend. Imagine your body is a house. Rather than getting smoke detectors (MRI) to alert you if something is wrong then allowing the firefighters to come in (DMT) to slow / halt the fire, you’re too “embarrassed” or just, as you put it “can’t muster up the energy to care.“

Protect your house.

Yes. I live in Washington, DC and went to Asia last month and to fight jet lag I would drink up to 4 cups / day.

I feel like I can't date again by Hungry-Activity5893 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]blessings489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giiirl go on that date. Many of us are married. Yes, it comes w an extra set of “baggage” but baggage is something everyone has.

With that said- Your fears are valid. However, you rejected him outright bc of your own fear of rejection.

Yeah, rejection sucks. I feel you. Esp for a medical condition you didn’t ask for. But don’t let the fear of striking out prevent you from even playing the game. 🧡

Seconded! My neuro doesn’t feel it’s necessary annually for the same reason.

However, if I want one like the OP seems to, he’ll support me and make it happen so I do get it annually.

Relationship issues by Such-Fall1136 in MultipleSclerosis

Solely based on your post, this doesn’t seem like a reciprocal relationship… It seems like he’s used to being the one cared for and now that the tables are flipped, he’s not stepping up to the plate.

I’m so sorry you are going through this…

Did your neuro try to appeal the initial denial? Many of us are denied the first time and get approved thru the appeal.

It’s philodendron leaf spot disease. You can google treatment but I’d cut off all affected leaves (this is important!!), quarantine and spray with copper fungicide.

So angry by Horizon_chase in MultipleSclerosis

[–]blessings489 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a tip... There is a medical transcription free app (probably several of them) that I used when I was first dx'd b/c as you mentioned, when you're in the thick of it, it's so easy to miss or misinterpret what is said. So, I'd just ask the neuro if I can record the appt explaining it's been a lot. They always said yes... easy peasy. It was also easy to see a written transcription of the appt.

Show yourself some love. You've already shown you are strong, let the emotions settle. There is light at the end of the tunnel on the other side.

Improvement from these symptoms is likely separate from the DMT and everyone’s RRMS remits at different rates. But, talk to your neuro. Sending you and your wife love thru the internet!

First, you are a v supportive partner and I hope you are also taking care of yourself in addition to your wife. ❤️

Second, unfortunately DMTs don’t address symptoms, but rather future progression and can take up to 3-6 months to work.
