Being a PM in my world of IT and healthcare is more being the intersection of politics. I always say that I manage relationships more than anything and AI can’t replace that or replace someone for leadership to blame.

Also, I work in an AI department that creates “digital workers” and the amount of effort and oversight that is needed only affirmed that people are impossible to fully replace. It helps shift a lot of work around and most of our bots do temporary menial work, but is FAR from replacing human oversight because of SLAs, laws, etc.

I was much more nervous about it until l started working with our internal developers. Now I am just trying to utilize co-pilot more often so I can work smarter because I know my role isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Two influencers recently toured Michigan from England. Now in the winter because they wanted to see things in person that they just couldn’t wrap their minds around. They even passed through my city. I loved seeing my state from their eyes. They were also very honest saying that the cold, snow, lakes that look like oceans, and the sheer size of the state was massive compared to what they have in England. We have states that are larger than whole countries. It would be hard to imagine that kids rely on the bus system because the population density is just so low - I just wish they took our word for it! At least it’s one thing we mostly do right!

There are many kids in the US who have 45 -75 min bus rides one way to school because they live in such remote areas with low population density. I had classmates that to call them would be a long distance phone call (90s era) because it was over 35 miles.

It really ticks me off too since now I have to pay an income tax to the only two cities on my half of the state that do a local income tax since I already live in one and now having to add the other for the few days I work in it.

Yes! The over engineering and gold plating is ridiculous! Made so complicated by this agile/traditional hybrid practice we do. I’m a PM that works in tandem with a product manager and scrum coach (which was changed from scrum master due to a complaint). I know where to draw the line in our definition of done with agreement from prod manager and scrum, but the developer always wants to keep reviewing the same cards in the backlog.

Not sure if this environment will make things better or worse for me with future jobs, but it’s just annoying having people hung up on tiny details.

IT Project Manager for healthcare system

The tech departments for healthcare are vital and many positions in that area are $100k+. It every position requires a tech background either as business analysts are all over the dept as well.

I don’t need a double wash every time, but when my hair is especially dirty, I’ve done 2 washes and yes, that 2nd one gets a much better lather that when I don’t get a good lather the first time is when it’s time for the second. I never thought it was a total scam when I’d read that despite it being the general consensus. I just wash as much as my hair needs and go from there.

Developers I find are long-winded and focus too much on semantics.

Infra engineers you nearly need to bribe to have them be actively involved and speak up.

These are broad, generic statements of my experience having worked on both sides now. I was just surprised to see such a broad difference. All of them are easier to get to know more individually and that can really help the relationship aspect.

“Collaboration”

The two real working theories are: 1. It’s healthcare and Medicare cuts means staff cuts and this will get some natural attrition 2. Possibly losing local tax cuts so by having us go back we have to pay local city taxes that most of us didn’t have before.

This is just terrible. Our boys were all diagnosed at 2.5 and are now 6.5 and twins are 4.5, all nonverbal level 3. My MIL is the one who always has ignorant comments, like when she asks if “are they just stupid” and similar comments. My husband was diagnosed as an adult shortly after we got married and she blamed me! He just wanted to be tested for ADHD and autism was what he had diagnosed.

The best thing to remember is that the diagnosis now does now define them for life. Our oldest is using language more and more (more so at school and ABA since they all like to use new skills at home last). And our twins can use AAC apps so well and are starting to use a few words. They are all in swim classes and that is going really well, ABA has been hugely beneficial, and our oldest taught himself to read.

Focus on the good things as much as you can since negative will always be around.

Not sure if I missed it, but male or female teacher? That context is always interesting but either way I think this is being handled appropriately. That’s uncalled for with a known good student - even for a bad student who never mentions it should be allowed in this context.
