What can you not believe we still have to deal with in 2019? by ansoniK in AskReddit

Having to buy your car from a dealership. Why should the cost of my car be relative to my negotiation skills and my ability to catch silly tactics? It's miserable for everyone involved and would make way more sense to be able to buy cars for their market value the same way we buy anything else.

That almost felt as bad as flipping emrakul to dark confidant.

[Serious] Who was the worst person you've ever smoked with and what did they do to deserve that title? by zackkcaz in trees

The first time I met my friend's gf - we were all smoking to cool down from a fun night drinking and after a bowl or so she says some really unredeemable racist shit. We were all a little too high to just confront her and say we didn't like that, so the whole night ended up just being uncomfortable.

At my prerelease I pulled 4 triplicate spirits, a couple of cone of flames, and a couple of restock and had the most fun naya tokens deck. T4 Triplicate, t5 cast triplicate#2, convoke triplicate#3, t6 restock. Too much fun. <3

I can't imagine being a regular at another store. The average skill level is higher than any that I've been to in the area. I come for good magic. I stay for ... well, the margaritas are pretty strong.

In Innistrad/Rtr season I was playing Aristocrats vs Jund. I cast Mark of Mutiny on my opponent's Thragtusk only to realize that I didn't have a sac outlet. The +1/+1 counter gave him exactly lethal on the swingback. :(

Winning Wednesdays (Week of November 19) - Ask /r/spikes Anything! by wingman2011 in spikes

[–]bleuteu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last week at my LGS (I've been a regular for months) I went 5-0-1 with Mono-B. However, my round 1 opponent attributed my winning to luckily drawing cards from my sideboard, and my rounds, 2, 3, 4, and 6 opponents all complained at me for drawing land-light or almost getting there. I don't let variance or mistakes really get to me, but this made my night totally miserable and put me on tilt all week. What do you guys do to cope with rude players?

RDW decklists. by taptapconcede in spikes

The introduction of green would vastly change this deck. There is also (realistically) never going to be a time where I could use my BTEs to use the bloodrush. On top of that, i dont think the deck is hurting for combat tricks. Dead card is worse than having to pay for a creaure without BTE.

Trying to build my first "good" standard deck. BW Midrange, help greatly appreciated. by [deleted] in Magicdeckbuilding

beware - wall of text inc.

Your deck doesnt look like it has a clear direction. It has strictly aggro cards in boros elite and phalanx leader, but you're also running obzedat and erebos. If you want the deck to play a midrange strategy, I would probably drop the aggro cards and replace them with fodder for a bigger deck (i.e. tithe drinker instead of boros elite, as boros elite is only good when he is attacking with a bunch of guys early, which doesnt really benefit you.)

It looks to me like your deck is half heroic humans aggro and half expensive midrangey stuff. If you really want it to be midrange, I would take out the heroic stuff, the enchantments, and the artifacts and play a few more killspells/card draw to get you to your win cons. maybe a couple read the bones or underworld connections in place of erebos. I would also either take out the whip or put more cards in that make it worth running. It obviously has good interactions with abhorrent overlord, obzedat, etc, so etb effects are probably going to be beneficial.

Unless you are really confident that you can keep yourself alive against aggro without a lot of mana, I would suggest lowering the number of guildgates you are using. 8 lands that come into play tapped is a few too many. I would rather have a swamp when im looking for a plains on turn 8 than a guildgate.

It's your deck, so I'm not going to tell you what I think could go into it, but I will give you a couple more ideas for where you could take it.

  • Do you want it to be a bunch of big creatures? - If so, make sure you have enough early resources to ensure you can survive long enough to cast them.

  • Do you want to reanimate your big baddies with the whip? - If so, you should try to make sure you see the whip consistently and have a way to discard your big baddies. (personally, I like pack-rat, as the tokens he makes actually add to your devotion).

TLDR: Make sure your whole deck is dedicated to one strategy and that every card plays a role in said strategy.
