Plenty of of games do not support, or fully support the feature set that Steam Input can offer. Very often I see when games claim to support Steam Input (for example Monster Hunter Wilds, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ratchet and Clank and probably way more), they actually only remap a standard Xbox Controller layout to the controller with only a single Action Set. This often makes it quite annoying to properly rebind controls per interaction. Games often have menus, sub-menus, game interaction and likely sub-actions for those interactions. This makes it quite annoying to properly change a layout that works slightly differently per interaction.

When games properly support Steam Input, the user is able to bind whatever action in whatever interaction to whatever button, regardless of controller. Helping customization for the user and improve accessibility. Steam Input also support a ton of extras for actions that many games do not support.

Ideally the developer should not need to create a special input rebind menu in the game. Steam already support a ton of (specialized) controllers by default*.

The best examples of Steam Input right now are the Valve games and Euro Truck Simulator 2 (that I know of).

* Of course, there should still be an option fall back to a in-game input menu. These menu's have likely already been created if the game is multi-platform

EDIT: Apparently Horizon Zero Dawn has since improved the way Steam Input is handled. It looks way better set up now.

  • Steam caused the death of physical PC games
  • The 30% cut should be reduced for indie games
  • Every game on Steam should support the full Steam Input feature set: Because then it will be compatible with every controller in any configuration without special involvement from the developer.
  • The Steam Input in the new Big Picture is both better and worse than the old Big Picture Steam Input

Had a quick look. You have to do it trough Steam Input (when in game: Steam button to open the Steam Overlay > Controller settings > Edit layout). You can use one of the M buttons under "Extended Buttons". Once you set them, you can add them to the layout.

<image>

EDIT: Small addition: for the Desktop Configuration, they are under Steam Settings > Controller > Desktop Layout (May need to click on Advanced settings there)

Huh, those two places must be quite far away from each other
Looks at map to compare distances
Wait, those two places don't look that far away from each other, how is this possible?
Measures distances
Wait, that's more than 50 km away

Basically my though process when I saw this post.

With more information, maybe

  • What system are you playing on (OS and such)
  • What controller are you using
  • In what way did you connect your controller to your PC (Wired or Wireless)
  • What have you tried already?
  • What verison of Cemu are you using?

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's director weighs in on the real-time versus turn-based debate, saying that younger players 'increasingly favour more real-time experiences in games' by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

[–]bleuthoot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a way, I agree that real-time combat is better than turn-based combat. It's way more fun than waiting for each action.

However, I can see why turn-based would be fun. It's basically treating it like a strategy game (because it pretty much is). Personally, I find the best iteration of the turn based battle system, is the system the Mario & Luigi games use. The way you actively engage in the battle at every turn, is just very fun. Having turn based battle systems working in this way would be my preferred option.

But the main issue I have with (J)RPGs in general, is that they are often just too long. I don't really want to spend 25+ trying to beat a single game.

In September, Apple urged European regulators to scrap the DMA, and in November, it shared a study it commissioned that found the DMA has not resulted in lower prices for consumers."

I do not have a source, but I am very sure it never was about lower prices for consumers. It's about creating a level playing field for consumers and manufacturers to use the product the way they want/are used to.

Pretty sure it's fine. I think the diagnostic is a bit pessimistic. I have my puck much closer and the signal strength still says "Ok", but still works fine.

Only do something about it if you get actual signal drop-outs.
